NBA Trade Rumors: Cleveland Cavaliers Looking for a Third First-Round Pick?

NBA Trade Rumors See Cleveland Cavaliers Making Moves

The 2011 NBA Draft is finally here. At this time of year we speculate which players will be drafted, as well as how successful they will be at the next level. However, those aren't the only subjects that we contemplate this time of year.

The week of the draft, and especially draft day, all sorts of rumors begin to make headlines. Some are very far fetched, and others you wonder if the deal will really get done.

You've heard the rumors of a Pau Gasol trade, or even a Lamar Odom trade. The Lakers are open to calls about those two players, but will only pull the trigger if the right deal comes along.

By now you've also heard of the Tony Parker saga in San Antonio. Will the Spurs get a top 10 pick for Parker?

Several rumors involve players, while others stick to just picks. With seven teams having two first-round draft picks, you can imagine how many trade possibilities could occur.

One of those seven teams is the Cleveland Cavaliers. They are one of two teams that have two lottery picks. Will they keep them or will they trade back?

I believe that they will keep both picks, especially now that there is a rumor stating the Cavaliers are looking for a third first-round pick.

From Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports: "Cleveland's trying to get a 3rd first round pick -- in the 20's -- dangling its two second rounders (32 and 54) and maybe cash, sources say."

Could the rich get richer? It certainly is possible.

The Cavaliers are draft rich, not talent rich. They are hoping that they can acquire a slew of talent this year to begin the rebuilding process. Is that really a smart move since this is labeled one of the weakest drafts ever?

The Cavaliers have the means to acquire a third first-rounder, but I don't think it will happen. They need talent right now, and Dan Gilbert and company are thinking that if they can acquire a third first-round pick, then it will justify taking Jonas Valanciunas with the No. 4 pick.

Valanciunas is considered the most talented international prospect this year, but the 19-year-old has a large buyout and won't be joining the NBA for a year or two.

You have to like the Cavaliers attitude here. They know they need help now and are trying to do what they can to make sure that happens.

So what do you think? Good or bad idea for Cleveland to trade second-rounder picks for a third first-round pick?
