Georgia Football 2011: Eight Teams We'd Love to See on Future Schedules
When Georgia takes on Boise State on Sept. 3, the entire country will pay close attention to the nationally televised game. It's one of those games that a college football fan can't miss because Boise State is a team on the rise, while the Bulldogs are looking to win the SEC East.
This game was finalized late last year, and it's one of the biggest games on the Bulldog's schedule this season.
But looking ahead to future schedules, what other teams would the Bulldog fans like to see? What other dream matchups would get the Bulldog Nation fired up?
Here are eight teams UGA fans, students, alumni and anybody associated with the program would love to see on the future schedules.
No. 1: Michigan Wolverines
1 of 8
Like Georgia, the Wolverines are looking to get back on the winning track under new head coach Brady Hoke. Michigan has a strong fanbase and whether the game is played between the hedges or at the Big House, it would be a huge draw.
Back in 2009 there were rumors these teams agreed to play each other last year and this upcoming season, but that was quickly shot down.
No. 2: Ohio State Buckeyes
2 of 8
The first and only time Georgia and Ohio State faced each other was in 1993 in the Citrus Bowl, as the Bulldogs came away with a 21-14 victory.
Due to off-the-field issues, the Buckeyes probably won't be the program they were under former head coach Jim Tressel, but Ohio State is still a big name school and if they were to play at Sanford Stadium, Athens would be the second largest city in Georgia on game day.
No. 3: Texas Longhorns
3 of 8
Both Texas and Georgia and known to have blue-chip high school football recruits, so it would be fitting to see both teams play against each other to see who is the better football state.
Last time the Longhorns took on the Bulldogs was in 1984 in Dallas and Georgia came away with the 10-9 win. Prior to the 1984 meeting, Texas and Georgia have faced each other three times and Texas won each contest.
No. 4: Oklahoma Sooners
4 of 8
This game would be compelling because these teams have never faced each other. The Sooners seem to put together a top 10 program each year, and it would only be fitting to see the Bulldogs and Sooners square off.
This would be another game that would shut Athens down on game day.
No. 5: USC Trojans
5 of 8
The state of California is another place that produces great high school players, and they tend to choose USC as their college destination. Both Georgia and the Trojans are looking to get back in the top 10, so this game would determine who is further in the "rebuilding" process.
No. 6: Oregon Ducks
6 of 8
After reaching the BCS National Championship game last year, the Oregon Ducks have become force in college football. They have a great coach in Chip Kelly, and they always have great athletes on their roster. So this would be a good test for the Bulldogs when it comes to out-of-conference opponents.
One thing to note about this game is both Georgia and Oregon signed a contract to play each other in 2015 and 2016, but the series was cancelled when UGA AD Greg McGarity took over for former AD Damon Evans last year.
No. 7: Miami Hurricanes
7 of 8
This would be an interesting game to see because this is Georgia head coach Mark Richt's old stomping ground, as he was a backup quarterback for the Hurricanes back in the early 1980's.
Also, it's been a long time since these teams have faced each other. It was 1966 when Georgia and Miami last met and the Hurricanes came away with a 7-6 win.
No. 8: Virginia Tech Hokies
8 of 8
If a fan were to think about Georgia and Virginia Tech, they are fairly similar teams. Both teams usually are in the hunt for their respective conference title, and when they do win their conference title, they come up short of the national title because of a costly loss early in the season.
This would be a good game because both Richt and Virginia Tech head coach Frank Beamer are two of the most respected coaches in all of college football, and both know how to get their teams ready to play in big games.
