Memo to the Mothership: Stop Running LeBron James Under the Bus for Money
Always the last one to defend embattled Miami Heat point forward LeBron James.
James, still the most gifted player these eyes have ever seen, may not be the best clutch player in the history of the NBA. He is not even close.
James doesn’t have a Shaquille O’Neal of the past inside, he has the softest big man in the league in Chris Bosh.
Dwyane Wade has lost his mind. Wade used to be a good citizen of the league during his title days with Shaq. Somewhere since appearing on that stage alongside James and Bosh, Wade’s ego exploded despite handing his franchise to another player.
Perhaps they should let Wade wear that ridiculous facial bandage again.
The weight of the world was on LeBron’s shoulders during this entire playoff run. Not Wade’s, not Bosh’s. At first, James responded well down the stretch, being the closer in the Chicago Bulls series. Most Valuable Flavor of the Month Derrick Rose was the third best player in that series, and there is nothing wrong with that.
In the Finals, Dallas’ 1 through 6 were far better than Miami’s “Big Three.” The series was won by Dallas because the Heat had zero answers for Tyson Chandler, Jason Kidd refused to miss, and Jason Terry got hot at the right moment.
Who was going to respond to Chandler, Kidd, and Terry?
Mike Bibby? Did you just chuckle a little bit too?
Mike “What is that Thing on Your Arm” Miller, the pride of Mitchell, South Dakota? He played in the Corn Palace, you know.
Former Chicago Bulls sharp-shooter Steve Kerr chipped in, saying James “is no Jordan, more like (Scottie) Pippen.” The most absurd statement in the history of interviewing.
Pippen was the most overrated player in the history of the game. James is not. Quit blaming LeBron for something Pippen said on two separate radio programs on the same day.
Pippen actually had a valid point. He merely said James was the most talented player he has ever seen, which he is. He didn’t say he was the best.
The media likes to misquote people and twist words in order to babble on about it over-and-over on three Mothership networks simultaneously.
It still baffles this writer how people see rings as the be all, end all of somebody’s talents. Sure, you play to win rings. It's important, but there are greater tragedies in the world.
Is LeBron the best player right now in the game today?
Without question. If you deny James is the best player at this moment, you are lying to yourself.
Insert random Stuart Scott “haterade” comment here.
That will be the last time this writer refers to Scott; 1994 called, they want your vocabulary back.
Is Kevin Durant just about as good as LeBron?
Absolutely. Positively. Durant could very well be better in the end.
Who would you rather have on your team?
Durant. Every single day of the week and twice on Sunday.
Durant, at times, plays with a killer instinct that you don’t teach. Either you have it, or you don’t.
James clearly doesn’t.
Of course, leave it to the Mothership, who accepted the financial gains of his “The Decision” special in July before blasting him for it, to dump on LeBron.
This is a network that compared James to Michael Vick and Tiger Woods. At last check, leaving a team in free agency was not a crime.
What crime did James ever commit?
Is James a cry baby?
Of course he is. Again, not illegal, just annoying.
Why do Wade and James always speak together in press conferences, and where is Chris Bosh in all of this?
James didn’t lose Miami the series, nor did Wade.
Dirk Nowitzki owned the softest big man in the league. Bosh has a European game. Instead of pounding away in the paint, Bosh is out there chucking it up from the cheap seats.
Miami didn’t have the muscle to contain the German walking offensive foul. Oh well, stop it.
James couldn’t do it. There wasn't a big man on Miami's bench that could do it either. Miami simply underestimated Nowitzki.
There are bigger tragedies in the world than LeBron James losing the NBA Finals. It is asinine to think so many people have nothing better to do than whine about James’ whining.
What are we really talking about here?
This is just another case of modern media overkill with nothing else better to talk about.
Miami lost. So what?
Get off LeBron. Seriously.
