NBA Power Rankings: Top 15 Most Posterized Players in NBA History (Video)
Everyone loves to watch highlights of rim-rattling posterizing slam dunks.
One of those in-your-face type of dunks, where the defender wishes he hadn't challenged the offensive player and immediately regrets his decision.
The best part about the guys on this list is that it didn't happen to them just once; they were repeatedly violated as offensive players claimed the paint as their own.
Without further ado, enjoy the show.
Honorable Mention: Frederic Weis
1 of 16This is the best slam dunk of all time, but the reason it receives only an honorable mention is because Frederic Weis never played in the NBA.
Despite being drafted 15th overall by the New York Knicks in the 1999 draft, Weis never stepped foot onto the NBA hardwood and we were robbed of the chance to see him get embarrassed over and over again.
15. Dwight Howard
2 of 16Although Dwight Howard is an excellent shot-blocker, he didn't always have the defensive prowess that he possesses now.
And despite the evolution that he's undergone as a player, he still gets victimized from time to time by players that aren't afraid to fly higher than Superman.
14. Dikembe Mutombo
3 of 16Dikembe Mutombo is famous worldwide for his finger wag after he blocked a shot away, but that just fueled the fire for his opposition to challenge the skilled defender.
Many people successfully traversed over Mount Mutombo, and after every successful trip to the top was an accompanying finger wag from the opposition.
13. Alonzo Mourning
4 of 16Alonzo Mourning was an excellent defender for the duration of his NBA career, but when you're one of the best, there will certainly be players looking to challenge your reputation.
There were plenty of occasions where the opposition was able to successfully navigate the lane with Mourning attempting to protect the rim, and in this video he would've been better off just getting out of the way.
12. Charles Barkley
5 of 16Charles Barkley was one of the most prolific power forwards in NBA history, but when you play as an undersized big man, you set yourself up to get dunked on by those bigger than you.
And when that happens, you better not let the opposition go behind his back and still make you look like a fool.
11. Donyell Marshall
6 of 16Donyell Marshall spent the majority of his career making a living out on the perimeter, and now it's becoming increasingly clearer as to why he never manned the middle.
Just take a look at the video clip here or punch in "Donyell Marshall getting dunked on" into the YouTube search engine, and you can see that despite his size, Marshall simply couldn't get off the ground.
10. Stromile Swift
7 of 16Despite being selected second overall by the Vancouver Grizzlies in the 2000 NBA draft, Swift never quite lived up to the billing he received after coming out of LSU.
Swift was pretty much helpless on defense at the professional level and was abused often by those looking to make SportsCenter's Top 10 plays.
9. Keon Clark
8 of 16Although Keon Clark had some fairly good jams of his own during the prime of his career, he served as a favorite target for some of the more athletic wingmen in the league.
But at least Clark had the foresight to get out of the way when most came to challenge him in the lane; he must've known that he didn't stand a chance.
8. Anderson Varejao
9 of 16Anderson Varejao does a lot of good things for his team during his time on the court, but playing staunch defense around the rim is not one of them.
For such a big guy, he has absolutely no elevation off of the ground and is barely at the ground floor by the time his opposition is in the penthouse.
7. Manute Bol
10 of 16Manute Bol was a popular player during his time in the NBA, but it certainly wasn't because of anything he did on defense.
Despite standing 7'7" tall, Bol had absolutely zero inclination toward swatting shots and didn't even know how to get out of the way when he was about to get embarrassed.
6. Vlade Divac
11 of 16Vlade Divac is a popular man in NBA circles, but the only defense that he ever played was flopping in the paint like a fish out of water.
And when it came time to challenge a player who was ready to soar off of the ground, Divac knew that was his cue to take cover and seek protection; his world was about to be rocked.
5. Brad Miller
12 of 16Brad Miller is a great passing big man and has a rather versatile skill set for someone of his size.
Unfortunately for the veteran, defensive prowess was not a part of his repertoire and it has showed throughout his career.
4. Patrick Ewing
13 of 16Patrick Ewing will be remembered as one of the greatest ever to man the center position, but there are certainly some plays that he'd like to have wiped clean from his Hall of Fame resume.
He was absolutely torched by MJ's Bulls on several occasions, with Jordan and Pippen each delivering earth-shattering blows on his head.
3. Shaquille O'Neal
14 of 16Shaquille O'Neal is going to be one of the most prolific centers to ever play the game of basketball, especially on the offensive end.
But defensively, Shaq had a very costly lapse from time to time, and it typically resulted in his mug winding up on someone else's poster.
2. Greg Ostertag
15 of 16Greg Ostertag, better known by his nickname "Postertag," had absolutely no defensive skills despite being an enormous body in the middle of the action.
There wasn't anyone who was afraid to challenge him in the paint, simply because they knew he couldn't do anything about it.
1. Shawn Bradley
16 of 16Shawn Bradley easily comes in at the No. 1 spot on this list by leaps and bounds ahead of his predecessors.
For a guy that was almost as tall as the basket with both arms standing straight up in the air, it's pretty amazing that his most infamous highlight reel is the "Top 10 Dunks on Shawn Bradley."
