Chicago Bulls vs Miami Heat: Kyle Korver Key to Bulls Game 5 Victory
Korver...Korver...Korver...Korver
Will the real Kyle Korver please stand up?
Yes, it's come to the point where I believe only classic pop culture references can bring Kyle Korver back to life.
After shooting the lights out in the Indiana series, Korver has regressed to the point of oblivion shooting a Shaq-at the free throw line-esque 28 percent from the field and the three-point line.
It's gotten so bad that Kyle Korver may receive the honor of becoming the newest member of J.A Adande's prestigious "Shooters Who Can't Shoot" list.
The Bulls better hope that's just a bit premature.
As important as Derrick Rose was to the success of the Bulls, Kyle Korver's spacing of floor was just as important to Rose throughout the year. With the respect teams had for Korver's shooting ability they wouldn't allow Korver's man to rotate off him, allowing driving space for the MVP.
So it's been no coincidence that the struggles of Rose have coincided with lack of three-point shooting from Korver. When Korver struggles his porous defense forces him off the court and the Bulls spacing takes a seat on the bench next to him.
If the Bulls are to have any chance of solving Miami's defense they will need Korver to knock down enough shots to allow him to stay on the floor. He doesn't have to Reggie Miller and he doesn't have to be Ray Allen. Korver just needs to force Miami to respect him as teams have all season long.
So while either it's the Bulls running some different sets, possibly beginning the game getting easier basket in the mid-range game for Korver, or it's Korver just finding himself, the Bulls need Kyle Korver back more than Mel Gibson needs his son.
