MLB Power Rankings: Every Team's Greatest TV Commercial of All-Time (Video)

Robert KnapelMay 16, 2011

Most commercials during baseball games are just boring. You have your typical car ads and beer ads among a myriad of other companies trying to sell you products.

One set of ads that generally tend to be entertaining are ones that are either commercials for your favorite team or feature some players from the team.

Some of these ads are put out by MLB or the television station that the team is playing on, and not by the organization.

30) Tampa Bay Rays

1 of 30

The Rays are a fairly new team so they should get some of the benefit of the doubt here. They have clearly focused more on putting a good production on the field instead of coming up with great commercials. The fans should appreciate this.

29) Arizona Diamondbacks

2 of 30

You can't really fault the Diamondbacks here because this commercial was made by the MLB. However, the team did not have a better commercial than this.

It is also hard to figure out how a gnome relates to the Diamondbacks in anyway.

28) Houston Astros

3 of 30

It's a fairly simple commercial, but it seems like one that young kids would enjoy. The Astros are also able to promote one of their best players and their team at the same time.

New York Yankees v. Chicago Cubs

27) San Diego Padres

4 of 30

Mascots tend to be comedic gold. However, that is not true in this case. The Padres chicken makes his best effort, but unfortunately, it is not enough to earn a higher spot on this list.

26) Baltimore Orioles

5 of 30

Going to a ballgame with your son (or daughter) is supposed to be a great bonding experience. This commercial shows that it is about more than the actual game.

25) Los Angeles Dodgers

6 of 30

It is great when a team has passionate fans. It really creates a great environment to watch games in and is a reason to go to the stadium instead of sitting at home and watching the game on television.

24) Chicago Cubs

7 of 30

For a team with such a long history, a commercial like this makes a lot of sense. Getting to hear all of the great Cubs announcers throughout the years, especially Harry Caray is a real treat for viewers of this commercial.

23) Colorado Rockies

8 of 30

It's clear that Carlos Gonzalez has a way with words. Instead of simply asking for a nail clipper, he talks in Spanish about it. He is speaking with Todd Helton, who it would appear does not understand him.

The purpose of the commercial is to show the unity with in the team.

22) Los Angeles Angels

9 of 30

Yes, this is not technically an Angels commercial, as it is a "This is SportsCenter" spot, but it does promote the team.

The rally monkey is a valued member of the Angels organization and is loved by fans.

21) St. Louis Cardinals

10 of 30

It is not advisable to get on Tony La Russa's bad side. However, it appears as if Fredbird has done just that, as he loses control of his hot-dog cannon.

20) Detroit Tigers

11 of 30

This commercial captures what it to be a part of a baseball team. Even if it is just throwing peanuts to fans, it is all an important part of the experience that keeps fans wanting to come to the ballpark again and again.

19) Pittsburgh Pirates

12 of 30

Fans constantly get caught up in their favorite teams. They make statements like, "we won last night" or "I can't believe we blew that lead", as if they are part of the team.

This commercial is able to perfectly capture that type of attitude.

18) Cincinnati Reds

13 of 30

It seems odd that the Reds are looking for a replacement for Bronson Arroyo despite the fact that he is currently on the team.

There is definitely a certain humor in seeing the Reds players look absolutely ridiculous in a blond wig.

17) New York Mets

14 of 30

Mr. Met has always been one of the more entertaining mascots in baseball. This commercial is just one in a series where Mr. Met looks for ways to have fun while the Mets are on the road.

16) Texas Rangers

15 of 30

It's a long winter and fans need something to do until baseball season starts up once again. However, there are certain things that fans should not be doing.

One has to wonder how the writers of this commercial came up with the idea of yodeling penguins.

15) San Francisco Giants

16 of 30

It is difficult to determine whose dance moves are worse, Lou Seal or Life Coach Bill. Either way, the commercial is still something enjoyable for Giants fans.

14) Washington Nationals

17 of 30

Some of the worst announcers in baseball are ones that are homers. This commercial recognizes that fact and then proceeds to address it in a satirical fashion.

13) Cleveland Indians

18 of 30

This commercial is able to capture many of the emotions, thoughts and experiences of baseball fans over the course of a game and a season.

While these things are not unique to Indians fans, this commercial's concept is, and they should be commended for that.

12) Milwaukee Brewers

19 of 30

This is a collection of commercials for the Brewers. Even if you don't trust my opinion, they were nominated for the 2010 Sports Media Marketing Awards, so you know that they must be good.

11) Oakland Athletics

20 of 30

Chin music may seem like a bit of an outdated term, but none of the suggestions offered up by the Athletics pitchers seem to be a better idea.

10) Kansas City Royals

21 of 30

It's amazing what a little time at a baseball game can do for a relationship. It can either be the start of one, as seen here, or the end of one, as demonstrated by this guy.

9) New York Yankees

22 of 30

We know that the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry is intense, but this father seems very disappointed in his son. Then again, the son could just be a rebellious teenager looking to get back at his dad by supporting the Yankees ' biggest rivals.

8) Atlanta Braves

23 of 30

While this commercial may not be a Braves commercial, it does feature two of the most prominent players from the last 20 years. In addition, it is a baseball classic.

This commercial also has one of the greatest phrases in baseball.

7) Philadelphia Phillies

24 of 30

This commercial is able to demonstrate that baseball is just a game and that the players should be able to have fun at the ballpark. Also, its great to see that Charlie Manuel is a bit of a jokester.

6) Seattle Mariners

25 of 30

The Mariners might be a much better team if they let King Felix pitch every day. With that being said, it is clearly not possible, although don't tell that to Felix, or Larry Bernandez, or Jerry.

5) Chicago White Sox

26 of 30

The concept of a playoff beard is very common in sports. The idea of an offseason beard is not. Will it catch on? It seems highly unlikely.

4) Minnesota Twins

27 of 30

Johan Santana is no longer with the Twins, but he was known for his ability to masterfully change the speed of his pitches. Apparently he changes speeds with other things in his life as well and that does not bode well for Joe Nathan's stomach.

3) Florida Marlins

28 of 30

It appears as if the Marlins have found the nicest Phillies fan there is. His barbs are nothing compared to what has been done by other Phillies fans.

At least justice is being served as the loudmouth Phillies fan gets dunked multiple times. The question is why does he continue to get back up on the seat.

2) Boston Red Sox

29 of 30

Eight-six years. It took 86 years after 1918 for the Red Sox to win another World Series. This commercial is able to capture some of that pain and share it with the rest of the baseball world.

1) Toronto Blue Jays

30 of 30

The song choice for this commercial is absolutely perfect. This commercial also seems to invoke viewers to think about the great moments from past baseball seasons to get them excited for the new season.
