Arsenal Transfer Rumours: 5 New Players Linked with a Move to the Emirates

With Arsenal's English Premier League title aspirations completely futile, the Gunners faithful are forced to endure the remaining two EPL encounters of the season with their attention soley focused on the up coming summer transfer window.

Fans and critics alike believe the Arsene Wenger's squad no longer boast the suffice credentials to adequately challenge for silverware, which has evaded the North London giants for six successive seasons now, and feel that quality changes need to be enforced immediately.

Wenger has responded by vowing to implement new presences into the Arsenal roster after receiving an extended budget from the Arsenal board for the up coming Summer. Wenger has often been a tentative buyer during transfer windows but with strong funds at his disposal and the need at the Emirates for success seriously intensifying, the Frenchman is set to strengthen his market activity.

Already numerous players have been linked with the Gunners but as recent campaigns will suggest, few ever materialize. None the less here are five players recently linked with a summer move to the Emirates.

Morgan Amalfitano-Lorient FC

According to Mirrorfootball.co.uk Arsene Wenger has made an offer for Lorient FC midfielder Morgan Amalfitano. The 26-year old is off contract when the season concludes which has forced a number of clubs including Aston Villa and Liverpool to eagerly chase the Frenchman.

A composed, powerful midfielder, Amalfitano has amassed over 120 appearances for Les Merlus and has enjoyed a strong season in the French Ligue One. Wenger is believed to have been heavily impressed with the skill and strength of the former Sedan enforcer and hopes to execute Arsenal's strong relationship they boast with Lorient FC to convince Amalfitano to join the Emirates.

The Frenchman would come as a free agent which is hugely beneficial for any side.

Sedar Tasci-VfB Stuttgart

According to First Post, VfB Stuttgart centre half sits atop Wenger's summer shopping list with the Arsenal manager to lodge a £10 million bid for the German. Wenger has been a keen admirer of the 24-year old for a number of seasons now and has utilized scouts to watch the Stuggart defender alongside reportedly attemptint to sign Tasci last season.

A tenacious, imposing defender, the German international has enjoyed a strong season in the German Bundesliga with 29 appearances for the Reds but desires a move to the Premier League.

Blessed with over 160 games for Vfb Stuttgart and international experience, Tasci is valued at the same price that Wenger acquired current centre halves Thomas Vermaelen and Laurent Koscielny with the German currently considered superior to the Arsenal duo.

Kevin Gameiro-Lorient FC

The Daily Mail, among with other sources, report that Arsene Wenger is set to make an audacious £13 million bid for Lorient FC striker Kevin Gameiro. The Gunner's manager holds the French striker in the highest regard and is rumoured to be one of Wenger's most desired players.

The 24-year old has easily been Lorient's player of the season with a superb 22 goals in 36 games this campaign. An efficient, quick striker, Gameiro is seen as the ideal replacement for either Nicklas Bendtner or Andrei Arshavin, who both have their Arsenal futures under grave concern.

Wenger is more likely to spend largely on a attacker than a defender in terms of price and with the form Gameiro has conveyed furthered by the relationship between Lorient FC and the Gunners, Kevin Gameiro could well be on his way to the Emirates.

Romelu Lukaku-Anderlecht

Arsenal sent scouts, not for the first time, to watch 18-year old sensastion Romelu Lukaku perform for Belgium giants Anderlecht. The striker is one of the most chased young prospects in world football but it is now speculated Wenger is ready to make a strong bid for the teenage star.

In his first full season, last campaign, the Belgium striker completed 45 appearances for Belgium giants Anderlecht, securing 19 goals.This season, Lukaku boats 40 appearances with 18 goals, and he just turned18.Touted as the next Didier Drogba, the young striker is said to be worth up to £20 million by Anderlecht.

Manchester City and Chelsea are also heavily linked too.

Karim Benzema-Real Madrid

Goal.com, along with numerous other sources, has stated Wenger is in deep negotiation with Real Madrid Jose Mourinho over the future of striker Karim Benzema. The French forward requirements are no longer vital at the Bernabeu with Wenger, who is a huge fan of the 23-year old, prepared to make a bid of £20 million for the sharp shooter.

However there is talk the deal could rise to as much as £40 million. There is no denying the calibre of Benzema, who has 24 goals in 46 appearances this term for Madrid. A strong, fast striker who Wenger believes will thrive under the Arsenal style of play.

Benzema is touted as a keen admirer of the Gunners and deal may well be imminent.
