John Terry & Ashley Cole To Miss Belarus Game

TheChelseaBlog.orgOct 13, 2008

So, the decision’s finally in on John Terry and the news it that he won’t be fit for Wednesday’s game against Belarus. Pretty much as expected I suppose and a bit of a concern for England’s defence who, with the help of a dodgy performance from Matthew Upson, looked less than convincing against Kazakhstan.

And as if that isn’t enough of a concern, Ashley Cole has also been withdrawn from the squad with a hamstring injury. As we all know, Cole took plenty of stick following what clearly must have appeared a catastrophic error to the mouths in the crowd, judging by their reaction. Personally, after the slating the morons got following this behaviour, I’d have been interested to see what sort of reception Cole got against Belarus but sadly this won’t be happening.

Cole’s likely replacement, Wayne Bridge, is infinitely more likeable from a neutral perspective, so no matter what colour shirt the ‘supporters’ turn up in he should be ok despite Cole being the more consistent performer of the two for England.

Anyway, while those who voice their displeasure on Saturday will no doubt be overjoyed with the latest injury news, the England manager isn’t quite as elated, stating “It’s disappointing to lose two very experienced players in John Terry and Ashley Cole for the game in Belarus. Unfortunately they have no chance of playing, so it is best they return to Chelsea.”
