2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs: Bruins Look to Finish Series in Montreal

Cory DuceyApr 25, 2011

There are some fans out there that think that Boston will finish this in Montreal.

There are also fans that think that Montreal will comeback and win this at home and then take Game 7 in Boston.

Wow. I would love to have that crystal ball.

Personally, I am sick and tired of the folks that predict the outcome of games based on history or they seem to think they alone can will it.

Zero for 26 when down 2-0 in the series; 24-32 for the Habs in playoff series and 4-2 in the season series with no wins in Montreal.

Here's some statistics.

Bruins swept the Habs in the 2008-2009 series. In the last three games of the regular season, Boston took two of them. When down 2-0 in the series, Boston took the last three games to take the lead including two of them in Montreal.

Carey Price has not won a home game in the playoffs in his last seven games.

See anything in common? History. Events that happened in the past and cannot be changed.

Something that happened in the past 84 years will, in no way, determine the outcome of this series or any other series to come for that matter.

Momentum is what you make of it. Both of these teams have proven that if you are not up on your game, the other team can.

The Boston team that played last year when they fell to the Philadelphia Flyers after leading the series 3-0 are different in many aspects and have added offensive power since then.

Does it mean they will win the series? I don't know, but some on both sides seem to have this series in the bag on gut feelings and history.

Far as I remember, we aren't playing the game, history is done and the persons that make the outcome are all under pressure to get the job done.

Game 6 will be another dog fight. Both teams each have a goal; win four games.

Both sides are saying when their respective teams lost, the other team was lucky and their team wasn't playing to their potential.

Why can't you have both? Why not add in there that the winning team played better?

Some Hab members of this site keep mentioning that the Habs have the ability to shut down the Bruins. Games 1 and 2 proved this to be true.

You can also mention that Tim Thomas was rebounding pucks right out to a charging Hab player and the Bruins were not sticking to their assignments and either not properly covering their man or not properly collapsing to the net to prevent decent shots.

Another thing that seems to be failed to mention that the Bruins have picked up their game and that the First line of the Bruins are starting to click. Now, you take that line plus the second and third, who are the reasons that the Bruins are where they are now, you got some depth that will be pretty darned hard to contain.

Will the Bruins win? Quite possibly, but it is not certain.

Game 5 was a heck of a dog fight. This series, from what I have seen is not a slam dunk for either team. On paper, the Bruins look to take this, but then again, the game is not played on paper.

Last year, the Habs were two bridges away from the prize. PK Subban said, "When we win the Cup" was one of the most cocky and arrogant comment I have heard from a player in a long time.

Youthful exuberance? Perhaps, but cocky and arrogant nonetheless seeing that it was coming from a rookie.

For those that are thinking the same thing (both Bruins and Hab fans alike), you'd better hope that the your team does not have your mindset.

The SCF are a far cry from here.

Currently there are three bridges that need to be crossed before you can even venture to look at the final bridge to hoist Lord Stanley's Mug.

That being said, I look forward to Game 6.

This is Cory Ducey saying "Hit Hard, But Keep It Clean".
