Malouda Inspired By New Chelsea Regime

TheChelseaBlog.orgOct 10, 2008

Having found some of the form he failed to discover last season, Florent Malouda apparently has his eye on silverware this term.

After his recent goals against Bordeaux and Portsmouth, Malouda hopes to add more to his game and said, “It is always good to score, but they were in the Champions League and Carling Cup, now I would like to score in the league because I know it is really important for me.

"I won a lot of league titles in France and really want to win something in England. Chelsea were champions two times before I arrived and I really want to win the Premier League again.”

Despite his at-times intermittent appearances in the side, Malouda also appears pretty happy with life at Stamford Bridge right now, stating, “I feel very good, now I can say I am really back from injury because my knee is okay and I am really fit,” he commented.

"I am happy, I always wanted to play for this club and win something here. Last year was my first in England, I had to adapt and now I feel I am really integrated in this team, the club and I feel like I have always been here.”

And the Frenchman has definitely started to show some of the potential he teased us with on his arrival. I remember watching his debut and thinking “this bloke could be useful”, although soon after, that thought was replaced by “wtf did we sign this waste of space for?” To be fair to him though, to sign for Jose Mourinho then find out the coneman would actually be your manager for the season must’ve been a bit off-putting.

Let’s be honest here, Grant was clueless. It’s highly unlikely he knew how many players he was meant to have on the pitch, much less which ones he should actually pick. So when it came to what system he should play and what instructions to give the players, it just wasn’t ever going to happen.

And whilst the rest of them had been playing together for a while and could get out there and play without anything resembling management, for a player who’d just arrived and didn’t have a clue what was going on, it can’t have been very motivating.

As a result, when Malouda wasn’t plagued by injury and did get on the pitch, he looked every bit as competent as his new manager

This season though, Chelsea again have a manager who knows what he wants and even better is that this manager doesn’t suppress his players attacking instincts—and Florent Malouda, like many of last season’s underachievers, seems to be thriving on that.
