Chelsea And Liverpool Stepping On Wenger’s Toes?

TheChelseaBlog.orgOct 5, 2008

Both Liverpool and Chelsea are reported to have their eye on Brazilian striker Diogo Santo. In fact, the clubs are so keen, they have both requested VIP tickets at Olympiakos’ game against AEK Athens today, to get a better look at the 21 year old.

The highly rated Brazilian, well known around Europe for his potential, is regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in world football. According to reports, Diogo has the perfect balance of power and skill alongside the ability to both create and finish goal scoring opportunities. His first touch and passing ability earns him high praise, whilst his poaching ability has drawn comparisons with Ruud van Nistelrooy. Add to that his aerial threat and his ability to easily manoeuvre the ball with both feet, and it’s hardly surprising he’s attracting so much attention.

Olympiakos only signed Diogo for £7million in the summer after a deal with Arsenal apparently failed to materialise, however, both Chelsea and Liverpool are reported to be considering a move for the player in the January transfer window.

With Arsene Wenger rumoured to have failed to sign Diogo on a couple of occasions already, this news will not be welcomed at the Emirates.
