Gambling on the Games: NCAA Football Week Five
A small loss last week, as Syracuse broke its dry spell against the spread. Still, Syracuse choked, letting Dave "Wannie" Wannstedt steal the win in their home Dome.
Last Week: Plus nine units to start
Pitt almost got an extra garbage score to steal the cover. Pitt -1 unit
Northwestern won outright. +1 unit
Virginia is really bad. Dominated by Duke, Cavs -1 unit.
Purdue didn't have much. -1 unit
VA Tech beats the Huskers outright. Hokies over Huskers. + 1 unit
Alabama devastated teh Dwgs. Roll Tide + 1 unit
Colorado State fell to the ax. - 1 unit
Minus 1 Unit for the week. Plus eight for the year.
A Hokies, Tide, and Wildcats money-line parlay would have been beautiful. I coulda been a contender...
This week:
Ohio State - 1 at Wisconsin
The Badgers looked bad, turning the ball over four times and losing to Michigan last week. Look for them to bounce back at home against a still shaky Ohio State squad with a true frosh QB.
Wisconsin 28 Ohio State 16 for 1 unit
Connecticut + 7.5 at North Carolina
Suddenly UConn is the beast of a bad East. Still like a hard playing UConn squad to catch a Carolina team looking towards Notre Dame.
UConn 24 NC 19 for 1 unit
South Carolina + 2.5 at Mississippi
The Cock-Nutt Bowl. Take Houston Nutt's revived Rebels to smash Spurrier's Cocks at home. Another blow to the Ole Ball Coach's big ego.
Mississippi 27 SC 13 for 1 unit
Navy + 4.5 at the Air Force
Improving Navy's coming off two big wins. Anchors away my boys! Anchors away!
Navy 33 Air Force 31 for 1 unit
Illinois + 2 at Michigan
Like the veteran Illini squad, which has faced top teams Penn State and Missouri to stymie the Wolverine squad still adjusting to a new scheme.
Illinois 34 Muchigan 27 for 1 unit
Missouri - 10 at Nebraska.
The Huskers were handled at home by the Hokies. Look for a hungry Tiger squad to beat on the still-not-back Blackshirts.
Missouri 49 Nebraska 18
Not much analysis this week...Going on mostly nothing but hunches. But as the late Cool Hand Luke said sometimes nothing a pretty cool hand.
Good Luck...Roll dem bones to feed dat jones. And lift a glass to Paul Newman, the late Luke.
