Manchester United vs. Barcelona: Predicting the Man U Starting XI

Amogha SahuMay 8, 2011

This is it. The biggest game in club football. The UEFA Champions League Final. Manchester United vs. Barcelona. It looks to be a cracking final, to say the least. The talent on offer, players as well as coaches, is flabbergasting. Let us see how Manchester United will line up against Barcelona during the Champions League Final.

Goalkeeper:Edwin Van Der Sar

Edwin Van der Sar is possibly the best goalkeeper in the world at this time, and he is 40. There is a chance that he gets injured , and he does not play ( I shudder to think, what would happen then?), in which case either Lindegaard or Kuszcak would play

DR: John O'Shea: Fergie must go for an old, reliable head instead of the more headstrong Rafael.

DC'S: Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic is arguably the best centre-back partnership in the League, and it would be unwise to break up this Partnership.

DL: Patrice Evra: He is one of the best left-backs in the world and should start against Barca.

United will play a 4-4-2 with a creator, destroyer style game plan.

DM: Darren Fletcher or Michael Carrick, as the defensive midfielder. He'll have his work cut out for him in front of Xavi and Iniesta If Fletcher suddenly puts on vintage performances, he should be a cert for the Champions League Team.

CM: Ryan Giggs. He is just amazing. He is as skilled of a playmaker as he is a wide midfielder. His creativity and the quality of his passing against Chelsea was amazing.

RAM: Antonio Valencia: He was phenomenal against Chelsea, Everton and, in fact he has been one of the standout performers in almost every game his has played since his comeback from injury.

LAM: Ji-Sung Park. Not the most skilled player, but he is in the Dirk Kuyt mold. He runs up and down the pitch and gives his hundred percent every game. He has been solid in the Champions League this year as well.

SS: Wayne Rooney has to play. Bar his poor form at the beginning of the season, and his strike partnership with Javier Hernandez is one of the best in the world

ST: Javier Hernandez has been one of the best players this season, bagging many goals in important games. I do not think hes should miss out.
