Although we are just past the half-way point of the season, here are five rumored transfers that are ringing around the EPL that if become true will shake up the League;
1. Kaka; Real Madrid to Chelsea
Having already worked with Italian coach, Carlos Ancelotti, during his AC Milan days, the 28-year old Brazilian superstar, Kaka, can expect a knock at his door this offseason from the defending champions. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is rumored to be initially offering £25million this summer in hopes of landing the skillful playmaker.
Chelsea are trying to link Kaka with recently signed Spanish striker Fernando Torres next season as top-man, Ancelotti, looks to spread youth throughout his aging squad. The capture of 23-year old defender, David Luiz, from Benfica and 26-year old forward Fernando Torres prove that point.
The former World Player of the Year was purchased by Real Madrid in 2009 for £56million but Chelsea feel that his injury ridden stint with Real and lack of form, they can roll it down to £25million.
2. Luis Fabiano; Sevilla to Tottenham
Brazilian striker and deadly finisher, Luis Fabiano, is once again on Manager Harry Redknapp's list. Sevilla is rumored to have a £15million offer awaiting them in exchange for their number 10. The 30-year old striker is also rumored to be chased by Italian giants Milan, a popular destination for Brazilian players.
After a successful World Cup and good form through this season, they look ready to acquire a player who has been in their sights for the past year. Although he signed a contract extension in August, until 2013, he has been quoted saying, "I see my cycle with Seville as finished and want to experience something new."
Spurs coach wants a striker who can sometimes command the front alone and experiment with a 5 player midfield.
3. "Hulk"; Porto to Manchester United
Another Brazilian, Givanildo Viera de Souza also known as "Hulk" from FC Porto in Portugal has been the recent target English giants that call Old Trafford home. Manchester United front office is prepared to have a £20million offer for the Brazilian forward, although, his clause is somewhere around £88million.
Hulk's manager and agent has expressed the various European interests in the Porto player who can be a vital piece for Manchester United tactics. His acceleration and bursts of speed can cause trouble for defenses, and putting him opposite of Nani and Wayne Rooney makes a deadly trio attack. His shot is thunderous and leaves keepers paralyzed as he finds the top corner.
Hulk is expected to fill in for Michael Owen who has failed to impress since he signed for Manchester last summer. With his football abilities and the coaching of Sir Alex Ferguson, there's no telling the success of the 23-year old forward. With the urges from Brazilian compatriot Anderson, United look ready to whip out the checkbook.
4. Vucinic; Roma to Blackburn
£20million seem to the price Blackburn Rovers have in mind to land the Roma striker Vucinic. The Montenegrin player has been a leading goalscorer for the Roman side since 2007, scoring in the double digits for three consecutive seasons. Making the switch from Lecce in 2006 he has spent 11 long years in Italy and Roma look to keep the assets of such a player making Blackburn's chance tough.
Blackburn have Santa Cruz and Diouf on loan from the clubs in Manchester and look to add fire power with Vucinic in the summer, as they return to the mothering clubs. I can help but speculate a tough negotiation for Rovers manager, Steve Kean.
5. Fabregas; Arsenal to Real or Barca
This is the major departure talk that are on the minds of Arsenal and the two most powerful clubs in Spain; Real Madrid and Barcelona.
The 23-year old captain has always had a soft-side for his youth club of Barcelona and they've always wanted him back. Now Real Madrid enters and is expected to offer a staggering £56million and either Karim Benzema or Sergio Canales for the central midfielder. Former Arsenal teammate Adebayor has came out publicly and urged Fabregas to rejoin him with the Los Blancos, as the Togolese strikers move will be made permanent in the summer as well.
Many can say he is non-transferable, but if the price is right Arsenal will probably let him go. Amidst all the speculation of the transfers of Cesc returning to Spain many believe he would never leave his youth club for Real in a million years and Gunner faithfuls feel the same about him in the Emirates. We'll have to wait for the summer to tell if any of the speculation is true.
Bonus - Shaun Wright-Phillips; Manchester City to Fulham or Bolton
Manchester City and English winger, Shaun Wright-Phillips, has admitted his eventual departure from City this summer, although he vows to regain a spot in the starting 11 to show his worth. The 29-year old is rumored to be headed to either Fulham or Bolton who are both interested in the talents of the player.
He expressed that after a calm conversation with coach Roberto Mancini he will remain quiet and play his game for the next three months and then make his decison.
It seems like a promising summer in the transfer window again this year; who will be the top spender? And who will fare off best? Until the heat comes, no one knows.
