
English Premier League Power Rankings: Week 25
A lot of action involving Premier League teams happened over the past week, with FA Cup, Europa League and Champions League matches joining the full slate of Premier League games over the weekend.
The biggest story of the weekend was Wayne Rooney's bicycle kick goal to win the Manchester derby for Manchester United.
In European play, both Tottenham and Arsenal pulled off upsets in the Champions League, while Manchester City and Liverpool drew in the Europa League.
The Premier League is taking a weekend off for the FA Cup fifth round, where 10 Premier League teams are still alive.
20. Wolverhampton (15)

Wolves could not carry the momentum from their win over Manchester Untied into their trip to the Emirates on Saturday, as they lost to Arsenal by two goals.
Still mired at the bottom of the table, Wolves go into a relegation battle with West Brom on Sunday hungry for points to keep them from being relegated.
19. Blackpool (19)

Eliot Grandin's 14th minute equalizer gave the Tangerines a point in the home match with Aston Villa on Saturday.
The draw ended the club's five game losing streak.
During the streak, Ian Holloway's club were outscored 16-9, and although Blackpool are scoring goals, they are giving up a lot as well, a factor that could hurt them in the relegation fight.
18. West Brom (20)

A first half outburst of goals for the Baggies was mirrored by their opponents West Ham in the second half, and the match ended in a 3-3 draw.
Graham Dorrans and Jerome Thomas scored for the Baggies, who also got an own goal from West Ham's Winston Reid.
New manager Roy Hodgson will make his debut on Sunday, when the Baggies host Wolves in a crucial relegation bout at The Hawthorns.
17. West Ham (18)

The Hammers completed a marvelous comeback against relegation rivals West Brom to earn a point from their 3-3 draw.
New signing Demba Ba scored twice with a Carlton Cole goal sandwiched in between to lead the Hammers' second half comeback.
Before the Hammers continue to fight to stay in the top flight, they will to stay in the hunt for the FA Cup as they host Burnley at Upton Park on Monday in the fifth round.
16. Blackburn (17)

Paul Robinson was the hero for Rovers in their goal less draw against Newcastle as he saved a blistering shot from Fabricio Coloccini.
The draw gave Steve Kean and company their first points of February and kept in the middle of the table at 11th place.
Next up for Rovers is a trip to Aston Villa on the 26th of February.
15. Wigan (16)

Steve Gohouri's 65th minute goal against Liverpool gave Wigan an unexpected point at Anfield on Saturday.
The point still keeps the Latics in the relegation zone, but only by a one goal difference, as they are level on points with West Brom.
The Latics were knocked out of the FA Cup on Wednesday as they lost their fourth round replay to Bolton.
14. Sunderland (13)

Sunderland suffered a loss to Tottenham on Saturday.
The Black Cats were up by a goal thanks to Asamoah Gyan, but the Ghanian's strike was not enough, as the defense let in two goals in the defeat.
Steve Bruce and company now have some time to rest before they face Everton on February 26th at Goodison Park.
13. Aston Villa (12)

Gabriel Agbonlahor's 10th minute goal was not enough to lead Villa to the win, but they did earn one point in their 1-1 draw with Blackpool.
With the draw, Villa dropped behind rivals Birmingham on goal difference and went down to 15th place in the table.
12. Newcastle (11)

Newcastle played in a 0-0 snoozer with Blackburn on Saturday, with the only real chance coming from Fabricio Coloccini, who was stopped by Blackburn keeper Paul Robinson.
The Magpies rebounded on Tuesday with Peter Lovenkrands and Leon Best both scoring goals in a 2-0 win over Birmingham.
The win boosted Newcastle back up into the top half of the table to ninth.
11. Stoke (9)

Stoke's visit to St. Andrews' Stadium was going well until the 90th minute, when the Potters conceded a winner from Nikola Zigic.
The Potters will look to rebound from the loss as they play in the FA Cup fifth round against Brighton on Saturday at home.
10. Everton (8)

Everton's trip to the Reebok Stadium was not a pleasant one, as they lost 2-0.
David Moyes' club stayed in 13th place with the loss and will have to rebound quickly as they look to stay alive in the FA Cup as they play their fourth round replay against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
9. Birmingham (10)

Nikola Zigic scored in the 90th minute to give the Blues a 1-0 win over Stoke on Saturday.
The momentum from the last minute win did not carry into Tuesday, as Alex McLeish's club lost to Newcastle.
Before the Blues head to Wembley for the Carling Cup Final on the 27th, they will look to go closer to the FA Cup final as they host Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday in the fifth round.
8. Bolton (14)

Daniel Sturridge continued his impressive streak of form as he scored in 67th minute to cap the 2-0 win by the Trotters at home against Everton on Sunday.
Sturridge's third goal since coming over from Chelsea on loan was accompanied by Gary Cahill's 10th minute goal.
Bolton continued their hot streak as they beat Wigan in the FA Cup fourth round replay 1-0 thanks to Ivan Klasnic.
Owen Coyle's club visit Fulham on Sunday in the fifth round of the tournament.
7. Manchester City (4)
14 of 20
Manchester City's title hopes were squashed thanks to a Wayne Rooney bicycle kick goal that handed City a 2-1 loss.
City are now behind United by eight points in the table and will look to stay alive for a Champions League spot.
City will host Notts County in their FA Cup fourth round replay on Sunday before hosting Greek side Aris in the second leg of their Europa League round of 32 tie; the teams drew 0-0 in the first leg.
6. Fulham (6)

Clint Dempsey could have been the hero for Fulham on Monday night, but his penalty was saved by Chelsea's Petr Cech, and the game ended in a goal-less draw.
The Cottagers have now got points in six of their last seven games and will look to continue their recent form as they host Bolton in the FA Cup fifth round on Sunday.
5. Chelsea (7)

Chelsea outplayed their London rivals, Fulham, on Monday but could not find a goal and almost lost, but thanks to a Petr Cech penalty save, the game ended 0-0.
Chelsea will look to get back to the winning with a match in the FA Cup fourth round replay against Everton.
Carlo Ancelotti and company will also play at Copenhagen in the Champions League on Tuesday.
4. Liverpool (3)

An early goal from the suddenly in form Raul Meireles was not enough for Liverpool to beat Wigan, as they were only able to take a single point as they ended up in 1-1 draw at Anfield.
The draw ended the Reds' three game win streak that has boosted them close to the European spots, as they sit in sixth right now.
After drawing with Sparta Prague on Thursday, the Reds face their Europa League opponents next Thursday at Anfield.
3. Arsenal (5)

Robin van Persie's double took down Wolves on Saturday at the Emirates as the Dutchman scored his ninth and 10th goals of the season.
A more impressive win by the Gunners happened on Wednesday when van Persie and Andrei Arshavin scored goals in the last 15 minutes as they beat Barcelona 2-1 in the Champions League.
The crowded February schedule continues with a trip to Leyton Orient in the FA Cup fifth round on Sunday before facing Stoke in the Premier League on Wednesday at the Emirates and then the Carling Cup Final next Sunday against Birmingham at Wembley.
2. Tottenham (1)

The resurgence of Niko Kranjcar continued for Spurs, as he scored the winner in their 2-1 win over Sunderland on Saturday.
That win pushed Spurs up to fourth in the EPL table, but a more important win occurred on Tuesday.
Peter Crouch scored in the 80th minute at the San Siro to beat AC Milan 1-0 in the round of 16 in the Champions League.
1. Manchester United (2)

Wayne Rooney scored the goal of the year when his bicycle kick found the back of the net in the 78th minute to beat rivals Manchester City 2-1.
Nani scored the first goal of the game for United, in a game where they extended their lead over City to eight points, and United still have a four point advantage over second place Arsenal.
Sir Alex Ferguson's club will host minnows Crawley Town in the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday before reembarking on their quest for the Champions League title when they visit Marseille on Wednesday.
