EPL Gossip: Why Sir Alex Ferguson Will Retire in the Summer
In 1986, the Red Devils made an appointment that changed everything in the world of football, swapping Ron Atkinson for Aberdeen manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
Twenty-four years on, Ferguson and United have won 11 league titles, five FA Cups, four League Cups, two European Cups and one FIFA Club World Club trophy, making Fergie the most successful manager in the history of the English game.
His managerial skills are superior to most and his knowledge of the game and its players second to none. And boy, his tactics have certainly withstood the test of time.

But will Fergie reach his 25th year in charge of United? When Sir Alex arrived in the northwest in 1986, United fans fantasized about their team being “as good as that team down the road.”
And if United pick up their 19th league title this season, that fantasy will finally be fulfilled. And once that happens, where is there to go for the Scot?
Does it get any better than being the most successful team in England?
And if Fergie’s last game means that United do indeed overtake Liverpool’s record, there is no doubt that Sir Alex would go down as a Red Devils legend.
But if he was to go on and keep managing United for the next five years, he would most probably end his career on a bad note, given United’s inability to compete in the transfer market as well as the rapid improvement of Manchester City and Spurs.
Developing Story. More Coming Soon.
