Aaron Rodgers Wins Super Bowl XLV MVP, Silences the Doubters

Sal DeRoseFeb 6, 2011

It only took a few years. A few years for Aaron Rodgers to win Super Bowl XLV MVP.

Not only that, he shut up everyone who doubted him and, most of all, said he could never replace the great Brett Favre.

Well, Favre lovers, just three words: get. over. it.

Rodgers has single-handedly helped win Green Bay a Super Bowl. Now Packers fans can say it: the Lombardi Trophy is rightfully home. It's heading back to Titletown.

Rodgers has helped do something that a few years ago very many people doubted. Now the Packers revel in all their glory, the first sixth seed to win a Super Bowl. The first Packers team to win since Favre led them to a win over New England in Super Bowl XXXI.

The Super Bowl MVP threw for 304 yards and three touchdowns in his great, electrifying performance.

Charles Woodson, Donald Driver and Sam Shields all went down, but they overcame every odd faced with them and squeaked out a 31-25 victory.

He hit Jordy Nelson with nine passes, racking up 140 yards and a touchdown to the young receiver from Kansas State.

Greg Jennings, on the other hand, was able to reel in four passes for 64 yards and two touchdowns.

But that's not what has happened, no. See, with one simple victory Rodgers has outgrown the enormous shadow once cast on him by Favre.

He didn't win the NFL MVP, but he has won Super Bowl MVP—a sweet consolation prize. Not to mention, he's a Super Bowl champion now.

Favre never was Super Bowl MVP—that title went to kick returner/wide receiver Desmond Howard in Super Bowl XXXI.

No matter what, everyone has to believe in Rodgers. After all, Lambeau Field is in Mr. Rodgers' Neighborhood now.

He's led this team from start to finish. He passed for 3,922 yards this season and 28 touchdowns to only 11 interceptions. Not to mention in the playoffs he threw for 1,094 yards and nine touchdowns to only two interceptions.

Oh yeah, and he's rightfully retained the right to his championship belt.

Not only that, but he has replaced a legend in the best way: a Super Bowl victory.
