
English Premier League Power Rankings: Week 23
Amid all the transfer madness that saw Luis Suarez, Andy Carroll, Fernando Torres and others move around the Premier League, there were games that were played as well as the FA Cup fourth round.
The fourth round of the FA Cup saw Wolves, Blackburn and Spurs eliminated with two all-EPL fixtures going into replays.
In the midweek round of Premier League games, Manchester United remained undefeated while the new look Liverpool took their third straight win in Premier League competition.
19. Blackpool (19)

Blackpool fought off other clubs to keep midfielder Charlie Adam at the club, and Adam rewarded the Seasiders with a goal on Wednesday.
Adam's goal was not enough for the club, as they fell 3-1 to West Ham at home.
Ian Holloway and company travel to Goodison Park to face Everton on Saturday.
20. Wolverhampton (16)

Wolves played a total of 180 minutes in the past week and failed to score a single goal.
Mick McCarthy's club lost 1-0 to Stoke on Sunday in the FA Cup and then lost to Bolton on Wednesday.
The losses continued to anchor Wolves at the bottom of the table as they are stuck on 21 points.
The road ahead does not get any easier with Manchester United and Arsenal on the schedule in the next two games.
18. Wigan (20)

Wigan had two draws this past week, which kept them alive in the FA Cup and took a point in a relegation battle.
After a scoreless draw with Bolton in the FA Cup on Saturday, the Latics got goals from Charles N'Zogbia and Ben Watson in a 2-2 draw with West Brom.
The draw did keep the Latics in 19th place in the table on 23 points as they host Blackburn at the DW Stadium on Saturday.
17. West Brom (17)

Marc-Antoine Fortune saved a point at home for West Brom in the 79th minute against Wigan on Wednesday.
Wednesday also marked the debut for Carlos Vela, who joined the Baggies on loan from Arsenal.
The 16th place team takes a trip to the City of Manchester Stadium on Saturday.
16. West Ham (18)

Victor Obinna scored five goals in two games this week for the Hammers.
Obinna scored a hat trick in the 3-2 FA Cup fourth round win over Nottingham Forest and then two more goals in a 3-1 win over Blackpool on Wednesday.
Robbie Keane also scored for the Hammers in his club debut with a goal in the first half against Blackpool.
15. Newcastle (11)

Newcastle had by far the worst week of all the Premier League clubs as they lost their league game and, more importantly, their leading goal scorer.
Andy Carroll departed Newcastle for Liverpool on the last day of the transfer window and Shola Ameobi out, injured manager Alan Pardew has limited attack options.
The Magpies are still 10th in the table but need players to step up and score in the absence of Carroll and the injured Ameobi.
14. Aston Villa (14)

Aston Villa got a boost from young and old in their FA Cup win over Blackburn in their 3-1 on Saturday.
Goals form youngsters Ciaran Clark and Nathan Delfouneso were accompanied by Robert Pires' first Villa goal.
New signing Darren Bent's 58th minute goal was not enough for the Villans to upset Manchester United on Tuesday, as the Villains are down in 14th place in the table.
Manager Gerard Houllier added American Michael Bradley to the list of new faces at Villa Park to join Bent and Jean Makoun.
13. Blackburn (7)

Blackburn could not continue their recent success, as they fell in two losses this past week.
Steve Kean's club lost to Aston Villa in the FA Cup fourth round and then fell to Tottenham at home on Wednesday to drop the club to ninth in the table.
Rovers added two youngsters to the club on Monday by bringing in striker Ruben Rochina from Barcelona and Mauro Formica from Newell's Old Boys in Argentina.
12. Birmingham (15)

Five goals from five different goal scorers resulted in a win and a highly deserved home draw.
David Bentley, Stuart Parnaby, Kevin Phillips scored three unanswered goals to take down Coventry City in the FA Cup fourth round.
Craig Gardner's 77th minute penalty saved a point for the Blues at home against Manchester City in their 2-2 draw on Wednesday.
Alex McLeish's club will look to carry that positive momentum into their relegation battle with West Ham at Upton Park on Sunday.
11. Bolton (13)

Daniel Sturridge made his Bolton debut a one to remember, as he scored in the 90th minute to beat Wolves 1-0 on Wednesday.
The win came after the Trotters drew with Wigan 0-0 in the FA Cup fourth round.
With the victory over Wolves, Owen Coyle and company moved back up the table to eighth place and will face Tottenham on the road at White Hart Lane on Saturday.
10. Stoke (12)

Stoke survived a last minute penalty attempt by Wolves to advance to the FA Cup fifth round.
On Wednesday, the Potters fell victim to the newly reenergized Liverpool as they lost 2-0.
Sitting 11th in the table, Tony Pulis' club have a chance to move back up to the top half of the table if they beat Sunderland at home on Saturday.
9. Everton (10)

Louis Saha scored the only two goals for Everton this week in their draw versus Chelsea in the FA Cup and in the Toffees loss to Arsenal.
Saha's goal was equalized by Chelsea, and the two teams will have a replay in the next few weeks.
The Toffees suffered a 2-1 loss to Arsenal to knock them down to 15th in the Premier League table.
8. Sunderland (4)

Phil Bardsley and Kieran Richardson scored for the Black Cats in their 4-2 loss to Chelsea on Tuesday.
Steve Bruce and company will look to get back on track when they visit Stoke on Saturday.
7. Manchester CIty (6)

City experienced two slip ups in their form this week with two away draws.
The first draw came in the FA Cup against Notts County, where Edin Dzeko had to save City from elimination.
On Wednesday, City suffered a late draw thanks to a Birmingham penalty in a game that ended in a 2-2 draw.
Before the Manchester derby next weekend, City will host West Brom on Saturday.
6. Liverpool (8)

King Kenny's new regime at Anfield has started to gain momentum after Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll were both signed over the weekend, which also marked the departure of Fernando Torres.
Suarez made an immediate impact scoring the second goal in the club's 2-0 win over Stoke on Wednesday.
The new look Liverpool will head to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in a very intriguing match up on Sunday.
5. Fulham (9)

Fulham more than pleased the home crowds at Craven Cottage this week with a 4-0 win over Tottenham in the FA Cup and a 1-0 win over Newcastle in EPL play.
Danny Murphy scored twice with Brede Hangeland and Moussa Dembele both scoring once in the rout of Spurs on Sunday, while Damien Duff scored against his former team in Newcastle on Wednesday.
The Cottagers are now up to 12th in the table, and they look continue the positive momentum at Villa Park on Saturday as they visit Aston Villa.
4. Tottenham (5)

Spurs had a up and down week with the down coming first in their 4-0 loss to Fulham, and then the club rebounded with a 1-0 win over Blackburn on Wednesday.
Peter Crouch scored an early fourth minute goal to give Spurs the three points and keeping them in fifth place as they head into their home clash with Bolton at White Hart Lane.
3. Chelsea (3)

Chelsea saved themselves from being eliminated in the FA Cup on Saturday thanks to a Salomon Kalou 75th minute goal.
On Tuesday, the Blues got goals from Kalou, Frank Lampard, John Terry and Nicolas Anelka as they cruised to a 4-2 win over Sunderland.
Another goal scoring machine is calling Stamford Bridge his home now, as Fernando Torres joined the club at the end of the transfer window and may face his old club, Liverpool, at the Bridge on Sunday.
2. Arsenal (2)

Arsenal had a pair of 2-1 wins this weekend.
On Saturday, the Gunners took down Huddersfield Town thanks to an own goal and a Cesc Fabregas 86th minute winner.
Andrei Arshavin and Laurent Koscielny scored in the comeback win over Everton on Tuesday to keep the Gunners in second place in the table with 49 points.

Another week, another pair of wins for Manchester United.
Michael Owen and Chicharito both scored in a 2-1 comeback win over Southampton in the FA Cup fourth round.
Wayne Rooney had a double followed by a Nemanja Vidic goal to keep the Red Devils undefeated in the Premier League with a 3-1 win over Aston Villa.
The Red Devils will prep for the Manchester derby with a trip to the Molineux Stadium to face Wolves on Saturday.
