Michigan Football Recruiting: TE Chris Barnett Chooses Brady Hoke, Wolverines
Brady Hoke and the Wolverines picked up a very important prospect in TX TE Chris Barnett. He opened up his recruiting after not being sold on Arkansas. Barnett previously decommitted from Oklahoma to join the Razorbacks, but will now end up in Michigan's class.
Scout has him as a 3-star prospect and the No. 16 TE. Rivals lists him as a 4-star and the No. 14 TE. ESPN has him as a 3-star and the No. 20 TE.
His list of offers says differently, which includes Miami (FL), USC, Clemson, Florida State, Notre Dame, Alabama, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Stanford and Utah.
Sure, Barnett might not be the highest ranked recruit, but his offer list indicates he is a big-time TE prospect.
This fills a position of need, but it's doubtful he will start next year with Kevin Koger entering his senior year and redshirt junior Brandon Moore next in line. We'll likely see Barnett splitting reps with Moore.
He's fast, very fast if his 40 times are right (4.55 and 4.52), and he will definitely hurt the defenses he faces if they bite on the run.
Overall, Brady Hoke has already proven that he can recruit quite well, especially given only two weeks to do so. Michigan's class is coming together quite nicely, and Barnett is a great addition.
