National Signing Day 2011: Information on Isaiah Crowell, Uncommitted 5-Stars
National Signing Day is finally here. Now college football fans around the country can hold their breath in nervous anticipation as the top high school prospects in the nation announce their college decisions.
Jadeveon Clowney will be waiting until Feb. 14 to enlighten us, but there is no shortage of talent that will be donning a new hat on the 2nd.
Will Isaiah Crowell complete Georgia's Dream Team, or will he help replace Mark Ingram in the Alabama backfield?
Is Cyrus Kouandjio actually serious about going to New Mexico. or will he spurn the Lobos for a better team?
Those are just two of the myriad questions that will be answered during the big day.
Without further ado, read on for information on the remaining uncommitted 5-star prospects, including the times they will announce their respective decisions. Keep in mind that all rankings are from Scout.com.
Jadeveon Clowney
1 of 9Maybe the top overall player coming out of high school, Jadeveon Clowney is undoubtedly a 5-star prospect and the No. 1 defensive end.
At 6'5", 235 pounds, Clowney can still chase down almost anyone in the game of football. He could stand to get stronger, but his athleticism, explosiveness and incredible amount of skill make up for that one weakness.
All you need to do to understand that is watch the first highlight in the embedded video.
Clowney made visits to Alabama, South Carolina and Clemson. Alabama and South Carolina are quite far ahead of Clemson, but we'll have to wait a while until we find out as Clowney will continue the tradition set by former No. 1 overall players and wait until after National Signing Day to announce his decision.
If I had to guess, I'd say that he ends up at Alabama.
Announcement Time: Feb. 14
Isaiah Crowell
2 of 9The No. 1 running back in the country, Isaiah Crowell is a highly sought after 5-star prospect.
He's never had to be the only running back in a backfield, so his durability isn't proven yet. Everything else is. Crowell has all the physical tools necessary to be a dominant running back: speed, , balance, cutting ability and more. acceleration
Crowell has made visits to Alabama and Georgia, and those are really the only two schools left in the running. Expect him to go to Athens and complete Mark Richt's Dream Team.
Announcement Time: 1:30 PM EST
Cyrus Kouandjio
3 of 9Cyrus Kouandjio undoubtedly has the toughest name to spell, but that's not the only thing he ranks first in. The offensive tackle from Maryland is also the top-ranked offensive tackle prospect in the country.
Kouandjio fills out his 6'7" frame with 295 pounds, and it doesn't appear as though he's done bulking up. If anything, he looks skinny. The offensive tackle appears to have no weaknesses, although he could stand to improve his run blocking just a little bit.
He's made visits to Alabama, Auburn and Iowa. It appears as though he'll join his brother and play at Alabama, but New Mexico remains a possibility as well.
Announcement Time: 12:00 PM EST
Curtis Grant
4 of 9Curtis Grant is the top-ranked outside linebacker in the country. That easily makes him a 5-star prospect.
Grant is 6'3" but only weighs 215 pounds. He'll fill out a lot more once he hits the college weight rooms.
The linebacker from Richmond, Virginia is quick, tough and has good vision. All that really needs to be improved is his tackling technique.
Grant has visited Florida, North Carolina, Ohio State and Virginia, but Ohio State is the likely destination.
Announcement Time: 1:30 PM EST
Stephone Anthony
5 of 9A 5-star prospect and the No. 2 outside linebacker among all 2011 recruits, Stephone Anthony has as high a ceiling as any other player.
His athleticism and speed is incredible and he seems to truly understand how to play the game. That's an important trait for any athlete, but especially a linebacker who needs to diagnose the offensive play quite quickly. Anthony needs to work on his technique, but that can be coached much more easily than the intangibles he has.
The outside linebacker has made visits to Clemson, North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Florida. Clemson appears to be the clear favorite.
Announcement Time: 11:30 AM EST
Delvon Simmons
6 of 9Delvon Simmons is the No. 3 defensive tackle in the country and a solid 5-star prospect.
He played both defensive end and offensive guard in high school, but he'll find himself on the inside of a defensive line in college. Simmons has great strength, desire and athleticism, but his technique could use some work, especially when it comes to disengaging from blockers.
Simmons made visits to Oregon, Rutgers, Texas Tech and USC. Pittsburgh and North Carolina are other possibilities and none has become a clear favorite. I'd guess Oregon is the final answer.
Announcement Time: 11:00 AM EST
Tim Jernigan
7 of 9The No. 4 defensive tackle in the country, Tim Jernigan stands 6'2" and weighs 275 pounds.
He still needs to learn a few more moves that he can use to get by blockers, but that's really Jernigan's only weakness. Jernigan is very strong, moves quickly and has good mobility, understands the game and has the size necessary to play it.
Jernigan's two visits were to Florida State and Tennessee, but LSU is a possibility as well. Florida State is the favorite here.
Announcement Time: 11:00 AM EST
Jalen Grimble
8 of 9Jalen Grimble is the No. 7 defensive tackle and a 5-star prospect.
At 6'3.5", 255 pounds, Grimble still moves very quickly for a big man and has no trouble chasing down the ball-carrier. He also changes direction quite proficiently. The only problem is the young player from Las Vegas needs to be able to do a better job getting past his blockers and into that open space more often.
Grimble made a visit to Miami (Florida) and also attended camp at USC and UCLA. He was once a USC commitment, but Miami appears to be the favorite now.
Announcement Time: 5:00 PM EST
Jermauria Rasco
9 of 9Jermauria Rasco is the No. 8 defensive end recruit in the country and a 5-star prospect.
At 6'3", 250 pounds, Rasco still manages to run a 4.6 40-yard dash. He might not be explosive and he needs to work some on his technique, but his speed is incredible. Rasco is also great at using his body to work his way past blockers.
Rasco's visits were to Florida, Florida State, LSU and UCLA. Right now, it seems as though LSU is the favorite to land him.
