Tiger Woods: 10 Reasons He'll Be Even Worse in 2011

Brandon GalvinJan 28, 2011

Hey everyone, Tiger Woods is back in action!

Ugh.

Really?

I don’t even care at this point.

I’m sick of Tiger. I was immediately sick of his nauseating story that lasted all of 2010. Even worse was the fact that he was so awful that it made people talk even more about Tiger.

Why couldn’t you just do well and shut everyone up?

That’s usually what happens, i.e. Michael Vick.

Yeah, people talked about Vick, but it wasn’t the same dog fighting story over and over.

I really don’t care about Tiger’s marital issues. Now, I don’t even care about Tiger on the course because he’s no longer Tiger Woods.

The man is defeated.

He sucked in 2010, and he’s going to suck even worse in 2011.

10. Diminished Interest

Some may say Tiger finds solace by being on the course.

Eh.

I’m going to have to disagree.

He just looks frustrated. It’s like he’s forced to play at this point.

After everything that happened last year, I think Tiger wishes he could just hibernate in a cocoon for a few years.

Tiger lost his drive for golf when he lost his family and was put on public display for everyone to lash out and indulge in his dirty laundry.

End of story.

9. Par 5s

Tiger, once the most dominant athlete on the planet, no longer strikes the same fear in his opponents.

In his prime, Tiger would dominate these hurdles and overcome them.

This is a different Tiger. He’s not going to be hurdling anything.

Just like yesterday at Torrey Pines, Tiger will be struggling with par 5s this weekend as the field chuckles in the shadows.

8. Women Problems

Tiger may have a lot of money, so he could definitely land a home-wrecking gold digger. But I don’t know many women who condone what Tiger did to his wife. Actually, I don’t know a single woman who condones or would hang out with Tiger right now, regardless of how big his wallet is.

Tiger’s ego and self-esteem are probably still extremely low after 2010.

Tiger needs adequate lovin’ from a tigress, but he’s not getting the attention anymore.

7. Family Issues

Family issues must still be weighing on Tiger. I don’t care what he or you or anybody else says. When something as devastating as that happens in your life, it is going to quickly eat away at you as it did last year, but also linger on and on for years to come.

There is no way Tiger was able to get over the tumultuous end of 2009 and entire 2010.

His demons and fears will once again eat away and distract him on the course.

6. Rust

Woods has not played as much recently as he would have probably liked heading into Torrey Pines.

I’m going to chalk it up to diminished interest in the sport for the most part.

Woods once again tried to change his swing, so he spent more time doing that than he did focusing on anything else. This will not do Woods any favors this year.

5. Changed Swing

Once again, Tiger has changed his swing.

He let go Hank Haney and moved on to Sean Foley.

How about you move on to early retirement, Tiger?

It’s not going to help.

Not this weekend at least.

It’s going to take Tiger time to adjust to the new swing, as usual. There’s no way he’s ready to get back to where he once was…being the real Tiger Woods.

4. Constant Media Pressure

Tiger’s issues are still the main talk of the town. People will be tuning in to see how Tiger performs, but everyone will always have the skeletons of his open closet dangling in front of them.

As he sinks once again, everyone will constantly blame his demons. They will then continue to push that Tiger is not over his issues and will never succeed until he actually gets over them.

The media will continue to push expectations and question when and where Tiger will regain form.

As that black cloud looms over Tiger, it will finally begin to downpour on Tiger’s proverbial golf course.

3. Awful 2010

In addition to his tumultuous personal life, Woods was absolutely abysmal. It wasn’t even that Woods was terrible for his standards. He was terrible for the average professional golfer. We constantly saw a shell of the former icon.

Of course, it’s Tiger, so people are going to tune in. But a lot of people started to tune in to see just how low Tiger could sink.

Those people are going to be on the edge of their seats this year…

2. Higher Expectations

Many will think the only place Tiger can go is up.

Not me.

But most people think that way.

Woods was so bad last year that he has to be better this year, right? Um…have you been paying attention!?

It’s not just the media and his fans. It’s Tiger himself. Tiger is going to place extremely high expectations on himself. After staring into the demons throughout 2010, he’s going to choke this year with expectations rising throughout the year.

1. He’s Not the Real Tiger Woods Anymore

That’s it.

Get over it.

We saw him dominate golf for over a decade.

Everyone’s time runs out.

It is unfortunate how Tiger’s run came to an end, but it did, and we have to live with it. No longer will we see golf’s best and biggest star ever dominate like he once did.

The real Tiger Woods left us in 2009.

The media has helped keep him from coming back, no matter how badly the media and his fans want him back.

The real Tiger Woods is just a memory now.
