
College Football Predictions 2011: 10 Freshmen Who Will Make an Impact in 2011
Marcus Lattimore of Auburn and Michael Dyer of South Carolina were impact players for their respective teams last year, and they were only freshmen.
Now the 2011 season is gearing up, and it's time to find out who is going to be the next group of freshmen that take the college world by storm.
Just like every year, a great deal of talented players and schools all across the country are doing everything they can to get the best players so they can have a year like Auburn last year.
Here's a list of the 10 freshmen who will make a huge impact in 2011.
No. 10: La'el Collins, Baton Rouge, LA
1 of 10This offensive lineman out of Louisiana is considered by many as one of the best tackles in the country.
He is known for his versatility and great upper body strength.
He has committed to LSU and could see some early playing time.
No. 9: Hasean Clinton-Dix, Orlando, FL
2 of 10Hasean Clinton-Dix is a big defensive back that has a knack for making plays.
He has all the tools to be a top-notched safety for Alabama.
He won't start right away, but expect Clinton-Dix to make a name for himself via special teams and then become the next great safety for the Crimson Tide.
No. 8: Malcolm Brown, Cibolo, TX
3 of 10With all the success Dyer and Lattimore had last season, Malcolm Brown will be expected to do the same thing for Texas.
And with the tough year the Longhorns had, expect Brown to play right away.
Because of his size and strength, he could be an All-American at the end of his career.
No. 7: Karlos Williams, Davenport, FL
4 of 10Like Clinton-Dix, Karlos Williams is a big defensive back with great upper body strength. He hits opposing players very hard at the point of attack.
In fact, don't be surprised if Florida State moves him to the linebacker position. But he will contribute right away.
No. 6: Ray Drew, Thomasville, GA
5 of 10If you need a pure pass rusher, Ray Drew is your guy because all he does is get after the quarterback.
He has great speed, is very athletic and many scouts have said he may be the strongest prospect in the country.
Drew has not decided on where he wants to play college ball, but no matter where he goes, he will not be sitting on the bench.
No. 5: Curtis Grant, Richmond, VA
6 of 10Curtis Grant could be as good as it gets when it comes to inside linebackers.
His size is excellent and is really great run defender.
North Carolina, Virginia, Ohio State and Florida are his final four choices, and whoever gets him will have a better defense because of him.
No. 4: Cyrus Kouandjio, Hyattsville, MD
7 of 10Standing at 6-foot-7 and 322 pounds, Cyrus Kouadanjio is a huge offensive lineman that is dominant when it comes to run blocking.
There is a chance that he may redshirt when he arrives at the college of his choice, but if he learns the system quickly, he could be an All-Conference player for the next three to four years.
No. 3: De'Anthony Thomas, Los Angeles, CA
8 of 10Offense, defense or special teams, De'Anthony Thomas can do it all.
He has great hands and his agility makes him dangerous on kick returns as well as punt returns.
USC is going to have a lot of fun with this kid from Los Angeles.
No. 2: Isaiah Crowell, Columbus, GA
9 of 10Isaiah Crowell is a running back that is explosive out of the backfield. He is fast, strong and agile.
Georgia and Alabama are on the top of his list, but no matter where he goes, he will play right away.
No. 1: Jadeveon Clowney, Rock Hill, SC
10 of 10Jadevon Clowney could be the best prospect in the country because he does everything well as a defensive end.
He is explosive off the ball, has quick feet and because if his size and strength, he has outplayed every offensive lineman he has faced in his high school career.
He still have a list of colleges to choose from, but he will play right away and will easily be an all-conference player.
