National Signing Day: Which Recruits Announcing on Signing Day Will Choose UT?
National Signing Day 2011 will surely be an important day for college football programs across the nation.
Some schools, however, will be hoping to make one final splash to make up for a bit of bad news over the last few weeks.
One of those schools is Texas, which lost top-ranked recruit Christian Westerman to Auburn. The nation's top offensive tackle decommitted from Texas after the coaching uncertainty, only to be heavily recruited by and ultimately commit to the national champions from Auburn.
There is still hope, however, for the Texas 2011 recruiting class. Already one of the best in the nation and no doubt the top class in the Big 12, the Longhorns are bringing quite a bit of talent onto campus next year.
Here are a few more players who may opt for Texas on National Signing Day.
Brandon Alexander
Alexander is one of the nation's most sought-after recruits heading into National Signing Day. The 6'6'', 230-pound defensive end is a 3-star recruit and ranked as the No. 23 player at that impressively deep position this year.
Alexander hails from Brenham, Texas and has received offers from Texas, Texas A&M and TCU. It stands to reason that he'll choose the Longhorns come National Signing Day.
Alexander torched the competition in his senior season at Brenham, recording five sacks, 59 tackles and one recovered fumble. Rivals.com has Alexander a 30 percent chance to commit to Texas.
Jermauria Rasco
Rasco is a superior talent out of Louisiana and is currently being recruited hard by LSU, Texas, Alabama, Oklahoma and Florida State.
The 6'3'', 249-pound defensive end is ranked No. 17 at the position and is a likely candidate to add even more bulk as his career progresses.
Rasco reportedly took a trip to LSU this past weekend and liked what he saw. Still, the best place for a player of his stature is Texas.
Rasco would certainly add to a defensive unit that features 4-star tackle Desmond Jackson, 4-star inside linebacker Steve Edmond and 4-star cornerbacks Quandre Diggs and Leroy Scott.
Despite recent coaching changes and the loss of top recruit Westerman, the Longhorns 2011 recruiting class is still the best in the Big 12 and one of the top classes in the nation.
