Steven Stamkos Stars in Fantasy NHL Week 16 Hot and Cold Players

Brandon GalvinJan 23, 2011

Tampa Bay Lightning center Steven Stamkos is once again back on top in this week’s edition of Fantasy NHL Hot and Cold players. If you drafted Stamkos, you’re probably sitting towards the top of your league standings.

Rick Nash and Jeff Carter also had fantastic weeks.

Unfortunately, a few superstars on two of the biggest teams landed on the chilly cold list. Which Washington Capital and Chicago Blackhawk players desperately need to heat up ASAP for their fantasy owners before it’s too late?

Note: Stats are tallied from January 13 to January 20.

Hot

Steve Stamkos, Tampa Bay Lightning Center

Stamkos is back on top of the fantasy world. He is +2 with two assists and six goals on 11 shots on goal. Yeah, he’s one of the best in the game and wouldn’t be down too long.

Rick Nash, Columbus Blue Jackets Left Wing

Nash is on a tear once again. Although he scored just one goal, he did take 16 shots this week. More importantly, he has five assists and is +3.

Jeff Carter, Philadelphia Flyers Right Wing

Carter is streaking right now. He scored three goals while taking 17 shots on goal. Even better, he has two assists and is +6. Needless to say, Carter is getting the job done across the board.

Zdeno Chara, Boston Bruins Defenseman

Chara is once again having a great week. He took 17 shots on goal and scored three times. Although he was neutral in the plus/minus category, he did also dish out one assist.

Tim Thomas, Boston Bruins Goalie

Thomas is back on a torrid pace. He has two wins in the past week, including one shut out. He as a one goal against average and a .974 save percentage.

Cold

Pavel Datsyuk, Detroit Red Wings Center

Datsyuk is still sidelined by a wrist injury. He is progressing well and should be back in two to three weeks to give fantasy owners a boost heading towards the playoffs.

Alexandre Burrows, Vancouver Canucks Left Wing

Burrows is having a tough week on the ice. He is -1 with just one assist. He only took eight shots on goal and failed to score once.

Patrick Kane, Chicago Blackhawks Right Wing

Kane returned from injury a few weeks ago but has yet to regain his elite form. He only took five shots on goal and, as you guessed, failed to score. He does have one assist and is +1 for the week but this is not the production fantasy owners expected from the superstar.

Mike Green, Washington Capitals Defenseman

Green is usually one of the most reliable defenseman in the game. Not this week. He failed to score or tally an assist. He did take seven shots on goal but is -2 for the week, doing far more harm than good to his fantasy owners.

Tomas Vokoun, Florida Panthers Goalie

Vokoun is still on his rocky roads. He failed to record a victory this week. He has .921 save percentage and 2.81 goal against average.
