New NHL Trade Rumors Reveal Dylan Larkin's Full List of Preferred Landing Spots amid Red Wings Buzz

Dylan Larkin has reportedly expanded his trade list to 10 teams amid his bid to leave the Detroit Red Wings.

Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press initially reported in June Larkin's list consisted of only the Minnesota Wild, Florida Panthers and Vegas Golden Knights.

That list has since expanded to include the Dallas Stars, Washington Capitals, Carolina Hurricanes, Utah Mammoth, Tampa Bay Lightning, New Jersey Devils and Colorado Avalanche, according to St. James.

Larkin holds a full no-trade clause through the 2027-28 season on his contract with the Red Wings, from which he requested a trade this offseason.

The Red Wings responded by stripping Larkin of his captaincy. Larkin, who began the season on injured reserve, has since returned to skate in seven of his team's first nine games.

He has recorded five points (one goal, four assists) so far this season while playing between Viktor Arvidsson and Lucas Raymond on the Wings' second line.

Larkin has some trade protections throughout the five years remaining on his contract, a deal which he is signed on through 2030-31 with an $8.7 million AAV.

The Athletic's Max Bultman and Pierre LeBrun noted the Montreal Canadiens are not on Larkin's list despite the fact the team is "believed to have a strong interest in Larkin."

ESPN's Greg Wyshynski reported "a source told ESPN that Larkin is not looking for a trade to a Canadian team," although Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman previously said he felt Habs fans chanting in support of Larkin "slightly changed the equation."

St. James reported the Wings haven't been able to complete a trade in part because they would be seeking a first-line center in exchange.

"It may well end up needing to be a multi-team trade to make all parties content, as the Wings could flip a top prospect/several first-round selections, for a value-now center," St. James wrote.

Another obstacle that could be getting in the way of the Wings finalizing a trade is the team's lack of a permanent general manager since firing Steve Yzerman in July.

With former assistant GM Shawn Horcoff serving as Yzerman's interim replacement, the Red Wings have failed to either finalize a trade for Larkin or sign restricted free agent defenseman Simon Edvinsson, who has yet to report to the team amid stalled contract talks.

Horcoff finalized a seven-year, $91 million extension for Alex DeBrincat earlier this month, and LeBrun reported for TSN the interim GM sat down last weekend with Edvinsson.

He now has until Dec. 1 to do the same with Edvinsson while continuing to work on finding a trade destination for Larkin that would allow the Red Wings to bolster their center depth without a rebuild Horcoff has previously described as "out of the question."
