Lil' Wayne and the Top 25 Rapper-Athlete Beefs

David DanielsJan 23, 2011

Lil' Wayne had front row seats to a Miami Heat-New Orleans Hornets game after he got out of prison.  He was reportedly mad that LeBron James and Dwayne Wade didn't greet him.

In a world where rappers get what they want: money, cars, clothes, they demand respect as well.  Lil' Wayne felt the lack of a hello was a slap in the face.

Here are the top 25 rappers alive today and the athletes they're angry at:

Some of them are legitimate feuds and some are more hunch based, but it's your job to decide which hate is real.

25. Fabolous

Athlete He's Angry At: Sebastian Telfair

Why So Serious?

A while ago outside of a restaurant, Telfair was robbed by two thieves.  Video evidence revealed that the two robbers were probably part of Fabolous' crew.

Telfair made a call and a few hours after the robbery, Fabolous was shot in the leg.

Coincidence?  Now, that's no fun.

24. Talib Kweli

Athlete He's Angry At: Pedro Martinez

Why So Serious?

Talib Kweli grew up in New York, like a lot of big name rappers.  Like all the other winners in NY, he grew up a Yankees fan.

Who's the Yankees' most hated rival?  The Boston Red Sox.

What Red Sox player do Yankee fans hate the most?  That may just be Pedro Martinez, well, it is at least for Kweli.

In a song released shortly after Pedro's famous quote: "I just tip my hat and call the Yankees my daddy," a line in the song read, "The Yankees' Pedro's daddy, Don Zimmer is his @#$%&."

23. The Game

3 of 25

Athlete He's Angry At: Derrick Rose

Why So Serious?

This hate runs deep.

A picture of Derrick Rose circled around the internet of him flashing a Gangster Disciples gang sign.

The Game is a Blood, or, at least that's what this song makes it sound like.

I'm staying out of this one.

Athlete He's Angry At: Mike Tyson

Why So Serious?

Back when LL Cool J was still rapping, Mike Tyson was featured on a track that attacked LL's family, his attitude and everything about him.

The two sides hurled insults back and forth, one included LL Cool J bringing up that Tyson was a convicted rapist.

The last fist thrown by LL was way back on his album G.O.A.T.  It was a while ago, but it's hard to forgive a person like Tyson.

21. Lupe Fiasco

5 of 25

Athlete He's Angry At: Rex Grossman

Why So Serious?

Lupe Fiasco was born and bred in Chicago, Illinois.

He wasn't old enough to witness the '85 Bears Super Bowl teams, so when Chicago fought their way to the Super Bowl in 2006, he was hyped.

Rex Grossman was the scapegoat for the Bears loss.  Later after the loss, Fiasco released a hit single called, "Superstar."  Little do people know, the song was inspired as a mock to Grossman.

20. Ludacris

Athlete He's Angry At: Michael Vick

Why So Serious?

Ludacris grew up in Atlanta, Georgia.  Like all people in Atlanta, he loved watching Michael Vick on Sundays, while he smoked some Blueberry Yum Yum of course.

After the whole Vick dogs ordeal, he was cut by the Falcons and the team collapsed.  Like the rest of Atlanta, Luda wasn't too happy about that.

There's rumors that he was ready to release a remix called "Move Vick", but had second thoughts and decided not to.

19. Kanye West

Athlete He's Angry At: Terrell Owens

Why So Serious?

Kanye West loves attention more than probably any rapper in the game.  Terrell Owens loves attention more than probably any player in football.

The two have gone back and forth in a competition to create the most controversy for years without letting known their intentions: to outdo the other.

From T.O. calling a press conference in his drive way, doing sit ups and answering "no comment" to Kanye repping Beyonce after Taylor Swift won an award, the battle looks to be about even.

18. Snoop Dogg

Athlete He's Angry At: Ricky Williams

Why So Serious?

If you haven't heard, Ricky Williams is a fan of Mary Jane.  If you haven't heard, Snoop Dogg shares the same passion.

Like oil, there's only so much weed to go around.  Plus, California is where they both prefer to get high.

In the weed world, Snoop and Williams are Kings, and their neighboring countries may go to war in the future for the sake of the plant.

17. 50 Cent

LAS VEGAS - MAY 05: Rapper 50 Cent listens during a news conference after Floyd Mayweather Jr. defeated Oscar De La Hoya by split decision in their WBC super welterweight championship fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena May 5, 2007 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Athlete He's Angry At: Plaxico Burress

Why So Serious?

50 Cent is famous for his rapping, but he's so much more famous for getting shot nine times and surviving.

Plaxico was having a bad day and felt like he needed to up his rep.  Seeing how 50 got rich, he shot himself in the leg by "accident".

If you follow 50 Cent, you know he's offended easily.  He has about one million feuds.  He didn't approve of Burress' imitation stunt and added him to the long list.

16. T.I.

Athlete He's Angry At: Gilbert Arenas

Why So Serious?

T.I. is ready to play the "rappers are targets" and the "athletes get out easy" cards.

For having a gun in the Wizards locker room, Arenas spent a few days in a halfway house.  T.I. was sentenced to over a year in prison on a federal weapons charge.

15. Jadakiss

Athlete He's Angry At: Chad Ochocinco

Why So Serious?

Jadakiss may be a talented rapper, but he's one of those "geniuses" who think Al Qaeda had nothing to do with 9/11, so let's just say his intelligence is in question.

All of Jadakiss' albums have the word "kiss" in it in some way.  It's his signature word.

When he heard Chad Ochocinco say "Kiss the baby" for the first time, he was enraged thinking that Chad was mocking him.

14. Lil' Wayne

Athlete He's Angry At: LeBron James and Dwayne Wade

Why So Serious?

Again, Lil' Wayne told the Rolling Stones that he was angry at LeBron and D-Wade.

He wanted them to at least ask why he wasn't cheering for them.

Get ready rap fans, a diss could be coming.

13. Dr. Dre

Athlete He's Angry At: Brett Favre

Why So Serious?

Dr. Dre is regarded as a hip hop legend after only two solo albums.  He hasn't released one since 2001, but he's been planning on releasing "Detox" since 2004.

Dre looked at Brett Favre and saw all this attention he receives every time his retirement status is up in the air and is jealous.

The release of Detox should be the talk of the hip hop community, but it's not getting nearly the attention it deserves.

12. Tech N9ne

14 of 25

Athlete He's Angry At: Tom Brady

Why So Serious?

If you haven't heard of the underground rapper Tech N9ne, you're missing out.

Anyway, Tech is from Kansas City, Missouri, but he's a fan of another Missouri team: the Rams.

The "Greatest Show on Turf" was heavy favorites going into the Super Bowl in 2001.  They were upset by Tom Brady and the unknown New England Patriots.  Tech N9ne, like every other Rams fan, has held a grudge ever since.

11. Mos Def

Athlete He's Angry At: Steve Largent

Why So Serious?

Again, Mos Def is another big name hip hop artist who smoked way too much way too young.  He also believes George Bush flew the planes into the Twin Towers.

He's very into politics and is very anti-Republican.  What other athlete would he hate more than Republican Steve Largent who's in the House of Representatives?

10. Common

Athlete He's Angry At: Terrell Owens

Why So Serious?

You know there was going to be more than one rapper to hate the Terrell Owens.  He's Terrell Owens.

Common had the wonderful privileged of playing against T.O. in the NBA Celebrity All-Star Game.

The rapper was just the latest person to "attempt" to ignore the loud mouth Owens.

9. KRS-One

17 of 25

Athlete He's Angry At: JaMarcus Russell

Why So Serious?

KRS-One is known as one of, if not the very most intelligent rappers out there.

When KRS-One saw JaMarcus Russell's IQ cost him a career in the league, he was disgusted.

Russell has the strongest arm in NFL history and a body frame Drew Brees would do anything for.  Lack of work ethic cost him a shot in the league.

8. Wu-Tang Clan

18 of 25

Athlete He's Angry At: Tiger Woods

Why So Serious?

One night on the Chappelle Show, a racial draft was put on.  The draft was meant to clear up all question marks about various celebrities' race.

The black delegation selected Tiger Woods with the first overall pick.

When the Chinese delegation was on the clock, they chose the Wu Tang Clan.

I apologize if this slide makes no sense at all to you.

7. Rakim

19 of 25

Athlete He's Angry At: Chris Johnson

Why So Serious?

Rakim is arguably the greatest lyricist in hip hop history.  Nothing gets under his skin more than people butchering the English language.

Chris Johnson has practically created his own language on Twitter.

If you don't believe me, follow him @ChrisJohnson28.  I will guarantee at least one laugh a day.

6. Ice Cube

Athlete He's Angry At: Paul Pierce

Why So Serious?

Paul Pierce grew up in the Los Angeles area, but since then, he's left everything West Coast behind except his gang affiliation.

Ice Cube is not only from the West Coast, he's one of the biggest Lakers fans out there.

Not only is Pierce a traitor for leaving the west to Ice Cube, on top of that he's a Celtic.

5. Bone Thugs N' Harmony

21 of 25

Athlete He's Angry At: Boston Celtics' Big Three

Why So Serious?

Bone Thugs N' Harmony were the hip hop dream team that were actually more famous as a group than individually.  In fact, they believe they're the only ones that deserve that kind of label.

They weren't pleased when the Celtics formed their trio and called it the "Big Three".

4. Jay-Z

22 of 25

Athlete He's Angry At: Carmelo Anthony

Why So Serious?

Jay-Z owns a part of the New Jersey Nets.  He and the Nets have tried to repeatedly trade for Carmelo Anthony, but Melo doesn't seem interested, despite the fact that the Nets will move to his hometown of Brooklyn in a few years.

Anthony has said he'd rather go to the Knicks.  Jay-Z is going to out on his second big name target.

3. Nas

Athlete He's Angry At: Kobe Bryant

Why So Serious?

When asked about the Shaq-Kobe feud, Nas decided to take the big man's side.

He was quoted saying, "Shaq is my man, @#$% Kobe."

Add Nas' name to the list of Kobe haters.

2. Eminem

Athlete He's Angry At: Ron Artest

Why So Serious?

Eminem is one of the few mainstream artists who actually cares about his lyrics.  He's written inspirational tracks like "Lose Yourself", "Till I Collapse" and many more.

Ron Artest makes a song called "Champions" and it blew up despite the lack of talent.

Let's just say Eminem didn't like the undeserved publicity.

1. 2Pac

25 of 25

Athlete He's Angry At: Shaquille O'Neal

Why So Serious?

Tupac Shakur is one of the many rappers who have a pretty big beef with the police.  He didn't hide that hate in his one song titled, "@#$% the Police".

What does Shaq want to do when he retires?  He wants to be a sheriff.  A sheriff is pretty much the country equivalent of a police chief.

So, why is Pac on this list?  He's alive!
