Shohei Ohtani, Ernie Clement Named Starters for 2026 MLB ASG, Voting Results & Finalists Revealed

The first starters for the 2026 MLB All-Star Game were revealed on Thursday.

Los Angeles Dodgers two-way star Shohei Ohtani and Toronto Blue Jays star second baseman Ernie Clement were named starters for the National League and American League, respectively.

Ohtani and Clement both secured their starting spots by finishing with the most fan votes in Phase 1 of the All-Star selection process.

The All-Star ballot finalists were also revealed.

The NL finalists include Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman and New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto. The AL finalists include Toronto Blue Jays slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and New York Yankees star Aaron Judge.

The top two finishers at each position as well as the top six outfielders at the end of Phase 1 will advance to Phase 2 for fans to determine which players earn spots in the starting lineup of their respective leagues.

Phase 2 begins on Monday at 12 p.m. ET and finishes on July 2.

Ohtani earning the first NL starting spot hardly comes as a major surprise, as the four-time MVP is in the midst of another strong individual season.

In 73 appearances this year, he's racked up 15 doubles and 17 home runs to go along with 46 RBI. Ohtani also owns a .295/.414/.549 slash line.

He's been particularly sharp at the plate as of late, posting a 1.127 OPS over his past 15 games.

Ohtani has also remained a key piece of Los Angeles' rotation, compiling an 8-2 record in 13 starts to go along with a 1.58 ERA and 0.904 WHIP.

As for Clement, he's operated as a versatile piece of the Blue Jays' lineup after helping them make a World Series appearance in 2025.

He's hitting .292 in 77 games this season, while his 20 doubles are tied for the most in the American League. Clement has also recorded seven home runs and 28 RBI.

The 2026 MLB All-Star Game will take place on July 14.
