Ivory Coast 2, Curaçao 0

Ivory Coast is through to the knockout round after Nicolas Pépé's brace guided them to a 2-0 victory over Curaçao.

Pépé didn't waste much time, scoring in the seventh minute goal off an assist from Yan Diomande.

Pepe struck again in the 64th minute with a left-footed strike after an assist from Ibrahim Sangaré.

Ivory Coast finished second in the group and moves onto the knockout round. Curaçao's World Cup is over, but they put forth a spirited effort in its first-ever appearance on the sport's biggest stage.

Ecuador 2, Germany 1

Gonzalo Plata's 77th-minute goal propelled Ecuador to a 2-1 upset victory over Germany that put the country into the knockout round.

Leroy Sané got Germany off to a great start in the second minute off an assist from Florian Wirtz.

The goal occurred after a potential foul, but referees let play go on.

Nilson Angulo leveled the score quickly, however, after a fantastic strike from just outside the box. Pedro Vite made the play happen after a steal and an assist.

Ecuador needed a win to move on, however, and Plata delivered the crucial goal after Kevin Rodríguez's sensational header following Moisés Caicedo's corner.

It's a great win for Ecuador, which moved to the knockout stage for the second time in history and first time since 2006.

Off the power of its two earlier World Cup wins, Germany still finished first in group play.

Japan 1, Sweden 1

This competitive match resulted in a 1-1 draw, but both teams are happy that they're moving onto the knockout rounds.

Daizen Maeda gave Japan a 1-0 lead after a fantastic through ball from Ritsu Dōan in the 56th minute.

Sweden quickly responded in the 62nd minute, though, as Anthony Elanga fired one of the best shots of the tournament with a curling left-footed strike that somehow got through the defense and into the net.

Japan will now play Brazil in the Round of 32. Sweden will play the Group I winner, which will be France or Norway, who play each other on Friday.

Netherlands 3, Tunisia 1

Netherlands got up 2-0 early en route to a 3-1 victory that led to them clinching first place in Group F.

Netherlands benefitted from an own goal in the third minute after Denzel Dumfries' cross went off Tunisia captain Ellyes Skhiri and into the net.

Four minutes later, Brian Brobbey made it 2-0. Tijjani Reijnders fired a free kick into the box, and Virgil van Dijk fired it across the net to Brobbey, who took care of the rest.

Tunisia fought back and scored one in the 54th minute off Hazem Mastouri's header off Hannibal Mejbri's corner.

However, Netherlands made it a two-goal deficit shortly thereafter in the 62nd minute when Jan Paul van Hecke headed in a corner from Reijnders for a 3-1 lead.

Netherlands will now play Morocco in the Round of 32. Tunisia's difficult World Cup is over after three defeats and a minus-10 goal differential.

Turkey 3, United States 2

The United States entered this match already knowing that they won Group D, and Turkey began play knowing its World Cup would end after this contest.

However, this ended up being a thrilling contest with plenty of drama and action.

The United States made nine changes from its starting lineup against Australia last Friday. Of note, USA star Christian Pulisic was active (albeit on the bench to start) after missing the Australia matchup and part of the Paraguay contest with a left calf injury.

Auston Trusty got the U.S. on the board in the third minute after he knocked down Sebastian Berhalter's fantastic corner and struck the ball into the net for the 1-0 lead.

However, Turkey responded in the 10th minute. Arda Güler's well-executed dummy led to the ball stopping at the feet of Barış Alper Yılmaz, who later fed the ball back to Güler for the goal.

Turkey took a 2-1 lead in the 31st minute thanks to a fantastic sequence. Kenan Yıldız started the process and found Güler, who fed the ball to Orkun Kökçü. The midfielder then spotted Yılmaz, who finished the job with the great goal.

After halftime, the United States quickly evened the score in the 49th minute thanks to Berhalter, who was the Americans' star on this evening. A loose and deflected ball in front of the goal after a long throw-in found its way to Berhalter, who fired a shot just outside the box to level the score at two.

Pulisic's long-awaited return occurred in the 58th minute.

Soon after his arrival, the United States authored a few great chances for the third goal.

Turkey had as one well late.

This match looked headed for a 2-2 draw, but Turkey put on the pressure literally on its final charge.

Turkey had the American defense scrambling late and took advantage. Salih Özcan chipped the ball to Can Uzun, who fired a shot at net. United States goalie Matt Turner made the save, but the ball slid through a handful of American players and to Kaan Ayhan, who took care of the rest.

The United States will now play Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Round of 32 on Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Santa Clara, California.

Paraguay 0, Australia 0

This match was a stark contrast to its Group D counterpart.

Australia was the better squad on this day, with .58 expected goals and five shots on net vs. .25 expected goals and two shots on net, per ESPN.

The first half in particular didn't have much action.

Neither team should be upset with the draw.

Australia, officially Group D's second place team, advanced to the Round of 32 with the result. Their opponent is unknown as of yet.

Paraguay isn't in the Round of 32 yet, but it's all but certain they will be. A tough matchup against Germany would await them, but they'll certainly take a knockout round berth against any team.
