National Signing Day 2011: Which Schools Will Make a Strong Late Push?

Bleacher ReportJun 2, 2018

College football recruiting for the 2011 season isn't over until it's over.

And that's sweet music to the ears of teams who still have work to do.

Whether it's a top program with a list of commitments that already impresses or a school that has struggled so far this recruiting season, there is always room for improvement. And with National Signing Day approaching in two weeks, that improvement needs to happen now.

Here are four schools who can make a strong push late in the 2011 college football recruiting season.

Ohio State

Ohio State's 2011 recruiting class is nothing to blink an eye at. Yet, the Buckeyes do have the chance to add spectacular players to their current No. 6 class.

With 4-star recruits Steve Miller (defensive end), Braxton Miller (quarterback), Doran Grant (cornerback) and Ryan Shazier (linebacker) already committed, Ohio State has a shot to vastly improve upon that list as National Signing Day approaches.

While top-ranked recruit Jadeveon Clowney remains an outside possibility, the Buckeyes have legitimate chances to land 4-star inside linebacker Curtis Grant, 4-star athletes Darius Jennings and Shane Wynn and defensive end Andre Sturdivant.

Despite a down year on the field, the Clemson Tigers have already assembled a terrific 2011 recruiting class and could very well add to that in the next few weeks.

With 5-star wide receiver Charone Peake and 4-star recruits Jeoffrey Pagan (defensive end), Martavis Bryant (wide receiver) and Mike Bellamy (running back), among others, already committed, Clemson can add a host of solid recruits who are currently considering the school.

Defensive end Ray Drew and Isaiah Crowell, the top-ranked running back, are both 5-star recruits that could land at Clemson. Tight end Jay Rome and outside linebacker Stephone Anthony are also considering the Tigers.

Notre Dame

Notre Dame has recently added fantastic recruits to its 2011 recruiting class and seem to be already making a strong late push, but that doesn't mean it can't continue.

Fresh off the verbals of defensive ends Ishaq Williams and Aaron Lynch, the Irish key in on running back Savon Huggins and tight end Trory Niklas.

The Irish tend to put together solid recruiting classes but this year's class may be the one that can push Notre Dame back into national dominance.

The Seminoles hit the recruiting trail early and have already put together one of the nation's top classes in 2011. Still, Florida State could get even better depending on the commitments of quarterback and tight end teammates Jacoby Brissett and Nick O'Leary.

Brissett, is the 25th-ranked quarterback but provides versatility as a dual-threat signal caller more apt of a Top 10 player. O'Leary, who is the grandson of golfing legend Jack Nicklaus, is the top-ranked tight end prospect.
