National Signing Day: Predictions For The Top Recruits Who'll Wait To Commit
National Signing Day is fast approaching and February 2nd will be here in no time. Many college football fans will be glued to a television or computer, keenly researching their favorite school's recruits and scrutinizing class rankings.
NSD is full of surprises, and many players love to wait until this day to make their choices and sign their letters of intent. There's still a plethora of players who remain uncommitted, and among them are the very best in the country.
Let's make some predictions as for what school the top 11 players announcing on NSD will sign with.
11. Erique Florence
1 of 11
Florence is visiting USC this weekend, and has the Trojans in his top four along with Arkansas, Auburn and Alabama.
He took a visit to Auburn last month and many feel this will come down to the Tigers and Alabama. Each fan base is passionate about where he is leaning and a fierce recruiting battle is taking place.
Kiehl Frazier and Jonathan Rose are both in his ear about the Tigers heavily, and our prediction is that he will indeed sign with Auburn.
10. Savon Huggins
2 of 11
There is some banter going on about Huggins' plans to announce. The word seems to be he wants to announce on January 28th, yet he routinely states he is still keeping his options open. When a player is still unsure about his plans, and NSD being so close from his initial announcement date, many times they will wait to announce on NSD.
Huggins is targeting Notre Dame, Rutgers, Michigan State and North Carolina. One week he is linked to UNC, the next is hometown Rutgers, and so forth. When the process first started many felt he was an Irish lock but now he is even with the four.
We think he will choose to stay home and play at Rutgers, whom will get his final visit next weekend.
9. Marcus Roberson
3 of 11
A source says that Roberson hasn't been seen much at St. Thomas Aquinas since his high school season ended, as he has been struggling with making a decision.
He's played his recruitment close to the vest and has taken trips to Texas Tech, Georgia and Auburn. USC will also get a visit this weekend, and Florida next weekend.
He has family ties to both Auburn and Texas Tech which puts the Red Raiders in the picture, yet Auburn will likely be his choice on signing day.
8. Jeoffrey Pagan
4 of 11
Pagan suffered a torn ACL and MCL this season, yet still is a hot commodity on the recruiting circuit. Once his knee heals, he will be able to bring versatility to a defensive line at end or tackle.
He was committed to Florida, but de-committed to open himself up. He's set to visit Clemson this weekend with Georgia being seen last month. Alabama, Tennessee and the Gators all remain possible visit destinations.
He was told by Georgia that could play early, he had a great time on his visit, and has been pushing other recruits to visit the Dawgs. He'll end up at Georgia.
7. Ray Drew
5 of 11
Drew, an ordained minister, is a man of faith off the field and a monster of menace on it at defensive end. He's 6'5", 245lbs with excellent athletic ability.
His mother says his recruitment is extremely fluid as his top schools change on a daily basis. He's slated to visit Miami this weekend and Clemson, Georgia, Auburn and LSU are the schools that are mentioned the most when he names his leaders.
We really like Miami as a darkhorse.
6. Tony Steward
6 of 11
Steward is a versatile linebacker from Pedro Menendez high school in Florida and is athletic a second level defender as there is in the country.
He has visited UCLA already and there is also a rumor he has backed out on visiting Alabama. Florida State, Clemson and Auburn are also among his favorites.
Florida State will be his only favorite come NSD.
5. Cyrus Kouandjio
7 of 11
Kouandjio is not short of options and much speculation has been made on what he's ultimately going to do.
He has two interesting schools among his leaders in New Mexico and Iowa and has stated he is very serious about both schools. USC also is a leader and we all know the Trojans national appeal and reach in the recruiting world.
With that said, he will wind up at Alabama.
4. Tim Jernigan
8 of 11
In a perfect world, Jernigan would have fell in love completely to be a Florida Gator, the school, team program he has rooted for since his childhood. The Gator fan has stated he will always love Florida, yet must make the best decision for him.
Right now, that decision is down to LSU, Alabama, and Florida State. Word is, Jernigan is torn between all three schools and will go through to pros and cons of each.
LSU seems to be the school that will win out.
3. Curtis Grant
9 of 11
Grant has a slew of schools after him and the Hermitage (VA) linebacker prospect has been open all through the process.
He seems to be down to Florida, Virginia, Ohio State and North Carolina as finalists for his supreme services. Florida will see him this weekend, followed North Carolina next weekend. He also came back raving about his Ohio State visit.
We think he will end up in Gainesville.
2. Isaiah Crowell
10 of 11
Crowell, a running back from Carver (GA) is among the elite at his position in this year's class.
He seems to be down to Alabama and Georgia, with Auburn in the mix as well. Tiger fans and Tide fans have argued back and forth over who will get him with Crowell not really tipping his hand too much either way.
As tempting as Alabama can be, staying home and running for the Dawgs will be too much to pass up for Crowell.
1. Jadeveon Clowney
11 of 11
Clowney is the top player nationally and an excellent defensive prospect. He could be the next Da'Quan Bowers or Gaines Adams.
He has looked at LSU and Ohio State, yet the two schools mentioned most with Clowney are South Carolina and Alabama. Clowney's high school is a known Gamecock pipeline and many have him strongly linked to South Carolina.
We just think he and Tide coach Chris Rumph are too close and Clowney will want to play for him in Tuscaloosa.
