College Football Recruiting: Oregon Ducks' Top 10 Recruiting Targets

Joe PenkalaJan 13, 2011

With the 2010 season all wrapped up, the Oregon Ducks will head to the offseason with a feeling of unfinished business, but a bright outlook. Coach Chip Kelly will not have a lot of time to think about how the way the season ended because signing day is right around the corner.

Signing day is a time for fans to all become hopeful again about their teams outlook. Some exceptional athlete can get right on the field and make an impact while other will affect the future of the school they choose.

Under Chip Kelly, Oregon has brought in a ton of talent that has yet to even see the field. Let's take a look at some of the key targets Coach Kelly and his staff have gone after and brought to Eugene.

Tacoi Sumler

1 of 10

This speedy receiver out of Florida could be the star of the Ducks class. In Chip Kelly's wide open offense, Sumler will help balance out the Oregon attack and help replace the hole left by seniors Jeff Maehl and D.J. Davis. Look for Sumler to see the field as a freshman if he produces through spring practice.

Devon Blackmon

2 of 10

In a couple years, Devon Blackmon will be lining up opposite of Sumler and could be an amazing combination of receivers. Blackmon possess great size and speed and is another great piece to the Chip Kelly offense. Coming out of high school, Blackmon is the fifth overall athlete and is from California.

Andre Yruretagoyena

3 of 10

Andre Yruretagoyena is another ESPN top 150 and is the ninth ranked offensive lineman in the nation. He is a great run blocker and is a terrific fit for Oregon's run heavy offense. Yruretagoyena will have to work on bulking up, but Oregon's coaching staff has been incredible in fine tuning lineman and getting their best.

Jerrard Randall

4 of 10

Jerrard Randall is another ESPN top-150 recruit and will likely end up playing quarterback at Oregon. While his size and speed lends you to believe that he could be used at safety, don't expect him to be changing position any time soon. Randall has the ability to make throws all over the field but will have to learn the Ducks offense and learn from Darron Thomas.

Anthony Wallace

5 of 10

Anthony Wallace will be coming to Oregon after collecting some impressive scholarship offers. Wallace had offers from Oklahoma, Ohio State, USC and others but ended up selecting Oregon. He is big and strong and has great instincts. He also has great instincts and can step up and stuff the run.

Colt Lyerla

6 of 10

Colt Lyerla could be the Ducks' jack of all trades. He went from running back to kick returner to linebacker while in high school. While he has had a ton of success at the linebacker position, the likelihood is that he will end up playing offense at Oregon.

Tyson Coleman

7 of 10

Tyson Coleman is another defensive commit for the Oregon Ducks. While it is unclear if he will play linebacker or safety, he is leaning towards safety. Coleman is a kid with an endless motor and will run the play down from sideline to sideline. If he can put on some weight he could be a great strong safety.

Ifo Ekpre-Olomu

8 of 10

Ifo Ekpre-Olomu is an athletic and fast cornerback that will bring depth to the Oregon secondary. While on the small side, he plays big and is able to get in and out of cuts with ease. Ifo Ekpre-Olomu reminds many fans of Cliff Harris and nobody would be disappointed if that is how he turned out.

Christian French

9 of 10

Christian French is simply put a athletic freak. French is 6'6, 230 pounds and runs a 4.4 40. While he currently is listed as a tight end, a position change will be coming. French will likely end up on the defensive side of the ball as a defensive line player and if he continues to develop, he will be a challenge for any offensive line to block.

Rashaan Vaughn

10 of 10

Rashaan Vaughn could be the diamond in the rough of this class right now. Vaughn is a junior college player and is the top rated wide receiver. He can immediately step on the field and play for the Ducks. Another great mix of size and speed at 6' and 4.37.
