U.S. Army All-American Bowl 2011: 5-Star DE Ishaq Williams Delays Commitment
Five-star defensive end Ishaq Williams, the No. 8 prospect in the country at his position, was scheduled to make his college decision on Saturday at the 2011 U.S. Army High School Football All-American Bowl, but declined to do so in the end.
Williams came forward this week saying that he would only announce his decision if he feels ready to do so and may make an additional visit before finalizing his plans.
On Saturday, Williams told reporters that he still needed time to think things over and would discuss the situation with this family before finalizing anything.
Previously, Williams had listed his final three choices as Penn State, Notre Dame and Syracuse, but new Miami head coach Al Golden has been going hard after the coveted defensive end ever since he took over the Hurricanes.
That has Williams considering making a trip down to Miami sometime this month and possibly holding off until National Signing Day to commit, but there's still a good chance he commits sooner and sticks to his original final three.
An athletic freak with the potential to be a superb outside linebacker or strong safety on top of his skill along the defensive line, Williams brings off-the-charts versatility to the table.
He's long and rangy, runs a deceptively fast 4.7-second 40-yard dash and is one of the most intense players you'll ever come across.
The fact that he didn't commit on Saturday must come as a disappointment to Penn State, Notre Dame and Syracuse, who will not only have to wait on hearing about Williams' final decision, but now likely will have to compete with Miami in this one as well.
Be sure to check out the breakdown of all the prospects who committed on Saturday.
