Under Armour All-American Game: The Top Recruits Expected To Commit at the Game
The 2011 Under Armour All-American Game will be played this Wednesday at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Many of the nation's top recruits will be in attendance as we get a last look at these high school stars before their college careers begin.
Several high-profile prospects have already announced that they'll be committing at the game, so the action off the field should be just as interesting as the game itself.
Here's the breakdown of the top prospects expected to commit at this year's Under Armour All-American Game.
And be sure to the check out the top 50 prospects on the rosters as well.
Honorable Mention: Jay Rome, TE
1 of 6
Jay Rome is the No.1-ranked tight end recruit in the country and has been linked to over a dozen programs to date.
An extremely athletic tight end with NFL potential, Rome has all the intangibles to be very successful wherever he ends up playing.
Rome hasn't said he'll commit at the Under Armour Game, but with it looking more and more like he's headed to Georgia, we have a hunch there's a good chance he makes it official this week.
5. Quan Bray, ATH
2 of 6
Bray is one of the most versatile athletes in the country and a legitimate 4-star prospect on either side of the ball.
Scouts project him at running back, wide receiver, cornerback and safety, and based on his athleticism, we have a feeling he'd be successful regardless of where you line him up.
Bray has been going back and forth about whether to commit at the Under Armour Game or not, but eventually decided that would be the date. While Alabama, LSU, Florida and Oregon are still in the mix, most observers believe it's down to Auburn and Georgia at this point.
4. Devon Blackmon, WR
3 of 6
A very dangerous offensive playmaker, Blackmon lines up mostly at quarterback in high school, but he has the looks of a wide receiver all the way at the next level.
One of the best prospects in the country at making plays in open space, Blackmon's change-of-direction ability marks him as an ideal slot receiver, return man and wildcat specialist. At this point his game is still very raw, though, so growing pains are to be expected.
Blackmon is down to Oregon, USC and UCLA and will make his decision this week at the Under Armour Game.
3. Xzavier Dickson, DE
4 of 6
Dickson is the type of prospect that just explodes into his opponent with a ton of power and quickness. Once he makes contact, Dickson uses his superior speed and athletic ability to get around his man.
He needs to get stronger and play more disciplined, but the talent is very intriguing. Dickson's body control and change-of-direction ability are as good as it gets.
Dickson is down to Alabama, Auburn and Georgia and one of those three will get the call at the Under Armour Game this week.
2. Greg Townsend, DE
5 of 6
Townsend has the athleticism and size to play anywhere from linebacker to defensive tackle on the next level. He's got great instincts and strength, but his body control and balance are what stand out the most when you watch him play.
Not many prospects his size are able to maneuver around blockers and contort their body without losing footing or balance. Townsend just squeezes past his opponent and sets himself up to make a play.
Townsend has narrowed his choices down to USC and TCU for his game-day decision.
1. Doran Grant, CB
6 of 6
Grant is the best cornerback prospect in the country, rated No.1 by Rivals and No.2 by Scout. He's even better than advertised and definitely fits the bill at a generous 5'10" and 175 lbs.
He's lighting-fast, tests off-the-charts athletically, tackles with a lot of power and has a great nose for the ball.
Grant will be choosing between Ohio State and Michigan State when he makes his announcement on Wednesday.
