Georgia Football: 10 New Year's Resolutions for the Bulldogs in 2011
2011 could come faster for the Georgia Bulldogs.
They finished the regular season with a 6-6 record, which included a four-game losing streak at the beginning of the year.
There was some good, though, as Aaron Murray emerged as one of the best young quarterbacks in the country.
But there's a chance the Bulldogs will not have Justin Houston and A.J. Green next season, because they will more than likely take their talents to the NFL.
So in honor of the New Year, here's a list of 10 New Year's resolutions for the Bulldogs.
No. 1: Win More Than Six Games
1 of 10
This seems simple, but that's reality, as the Bulldogs have a record of 14-11 the last two years. Most of it has to do with defensive play and some of it has to do with lack of production on offense.
It helps that Murray will be back, but will the defense take that next step and become a feared unit?
No. 2: Win the SEC East
2 of 10
The SEC East will be up for grabs this season and Georgia has to take advantage of it.
If they had been able to get off to fast start this season, they could have been able to claim the title. But South Carolina was able to take the top spot in the SEC East, leaving Georgia at home to watch.
No. 3: Win the SEC
3 of 10
The SEC East is not enough for the Bulldogs because it's been since 2005 UGA has won the SEC title.
If Mark Richt wants to keep his job, he's going to have to make a serious run at the title that Auburn holds currently and not settle for anything less.
No. 4: Find a Way to Keep A.J. Green
4 of 10
If I was A.J. Green, I would go pro and take the money.
But the Bulldogs have to find a way to keep the superstar because, as good as Murray was this season, the offense is different when Green is in the lineup. Green still had nearly 800 receiving yards and nine touchdowns, which is impressive for a guy who missed the first four games of the season.
No. 5: Find a Way to Sign Isaiah Crowell
5 of 10Isaiah Crowell is the best running back in the state and quite possibly the best in the country. He has made Georgia one of his finalists, so the Bulldogs need to go all out and keep him in state.
No. 6: Find a Way to Sign Ray Drew
6 of 10Just like Crowell is the one of the best in the country at running back, Ray Drew is one of the best defensive lineman in the country and some say he's the best prospect in Georgia.
He did visit the UGA campus a few weeks ago, so hopefully he enjoyed his experience and it was enough to bring him back for good.
No. 7: Beat Florida
7 of 10
The Bulldogs were close to beating the Gators this season, but a costly pick by Murray in overtime led to a Chas Henry field goal to give the Florida the win.
A new coach in place means the Gators will have to possibly learn a new offense and defense, so Georgia has another good opportunity to come away with their first win against Florida since 2007.
No. 8: Get Another Wide Receiver
8 of 10
Even if Georgia is able to hold on to Green for another year, they still need to find a receiver to take his place for 2012. Kris Durham won't be back because this was his senior season. Can Marlon Brown be the next great receiver for Georgia?
That's what fans are hoping, but somebody has to step up and be a No. 1 target for Murray in the near future.
No. 9: Revamp the Offensive Line
9 of 10
The offensive line for the Bulldogs was not bad, but it was not great either because the run game was inconsistent all season long.
Losing Clint Boling hurts because he was the best lineman the Bulldogs had. Will Kenarious Gates be the next great lineman for the Dawgs and will they a new recruit anchor the front five?
No. 10: Win a National Title
10 of 10
This should really be the No.1 resolution for the Bulldogs, but in order for them to accomplish a national title, they need to achieve resolutions one, two and three. If they are able to do that, they will make it to the BCS National Championship game.
But getting there is half the battle, they need to win in order to have a great 2011 season.
