Sergio Aguero In Liverpool: Just a Christmas Visit or Something Else?

Kaustav BoseDec 27, 2010

According to vitalfootball.co.uk Sergio Aguero, the wonder boy from Atletico Madrid, has been spotted in Liverpool this festive season.

Although it looks highly unlikely that Liverpool are really considering a move for the Argentine, Aguero's age, NESV's idea of building a squad strongly hinging on the youth and Damien Comolli's remark that a marquee signing cannot be ruled out in the January transfer window, which have lead to a few whispering speculations.

Atletico Madrid is the same club from which Liverpool bought Fernando Torres in 2007 and going by Liverpool's recent reported rumors, a bid for Aguero may not be that unlikely after all.

Liverpool were reportedly keen on obtaining the services of Edin Dzeko, the much sought after Wolfsburg striker; however, competing with Manchester City on the highly rated Bosnian may not prove a fruitful thing after all, especially after Mario Ballotelli's confession of feeling nostalgic, which may clear the way for Dzeko to enter their starting line up.

Although everything is a highly inflated speculation at this stage, with even no dailies reporting the issue, the Liverpool boss's open acknowledgement of trying to lure the best talents of clubs may prove to be a decisive link.

Also, Atletico Madrid, although Europa Champions last season, have been knocked out of the same competition in its group stages this year!

The Spanish club is now engaged in a battle for a European Spot in the La Liga and going by Liverpool's prospects at the moment, they are doing just as well.

Aguero himself also has declared his love for Liverpool FC and said he would love to play alongside his former partner in attack, Fernando Torres. Although the Liverpool fans won't buy much into that, knowing he had earlier remarks of similar nature when linked to Chelsea.

However, one commonality is that Aguero would not mind quitting La Liga and Atletico for greener pastures in England.

Sergio or Kun, Aguero, although cup-tied, should still be a great option for the Reds, who under the new management have shown some desire to make a splash if proper talent becomes available.

With the emphasis on buying a striker, the Reds are likely to go for some player in the January transfer window surely, but then whether it'll be for the diminutive Argentine remains open to debate.

I personally think such a move if pondered may be only a possibility in the summer, as of now some other options needs to be checked out.

In any case, a Christmas in Liverpool is no guarantee of what could be one of the biggest transfers in the upcoming transfer window.
