Gamecock Nation: Would You Accept the SEC Title If Auburn Has to Forfeit?

This article is just for fun, so Auburn fans, please do not go crazy. I know the NCAA said Cam Newton is okay, for now. This is more geared for the Gamecock fans in a "what if" scenario that I have not seen anyone really talk about.

Let's pretend that down the road the NCAA finds that Cam Newton was in the wrong and makes Auburn (just like Southern Cal) forfeit all games Cam Newton played in.

Just to recap, the NCAA made Southern Cal forfeit all its games Reggie Bush played in and is still determining whether to strip Southern Cal of its 2004 BCS National Championship.

Obviously, you never know what the NCAA will come up with in any ruling. For this article's sake, let's say the NCAA makes Auburn forfeit all wins, including the SEC Championship game.

This leads to my questions: Do you think South Carolina should be awarded the 2010 SEC title? As fans, would it be anything to brag about? Should South Carolina even accept the title?

Now, the SEC West runner-up Arkansas would make the argument (and it would be a good one) that they would be more deserving of the title. However, the fact is the SEC has a title game for a reason and Arkansas was not in it.

Of course, if Cam Newton was not around Arkansas more than likely would have been in it, but they were not.

However, that is just adding more "what ifs" to the scenario. Forfeiting the wins means that every game Auburn played is now a loss. That means, technically, South Carolina won the SEC Championship game.

For me, I would not accept it. South Carolina had a chance to go out and earn it and could not do it. As a die-hard fan, starving for a football championship, it would be very hard to turn down though.

I mean, if Auburn cheated and South Carolina earned its trip to the title game then shouldn't the team that earned it be rewarded? It's a tricky situation with a lot of variables to it, but it is something interesting to think about.

I have not heard any Oklahoma fans crying out for the 2004 National title, so South Carolina fans would you cry out for the 2010 SEC title?
