Urban Meyer Resigns, Leaving Florida: 10 Places He Could End Up
This Wednesday, Florida's athletic director announced that Urban Meyer was stepping down as the head coach of the Gators football team.
The places where he could end up are limitless: the Dallas Cowboys, Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos and the University of Miami are all possibilities, among others.
If you think back to last year, this shouldn't come as too much of a shock. Meyer stepped down then because of health problems, then changed his mind.
Read on to see where he could end up next year.
University of Florida

Because of what happened last year, this has to remain a possibility.
Urban Meyer has made the Florida program successful again and won titles during his tenure. It has to be hard for him to just leave that all behind.
Plus, he's still coaching people that he recruited, so there has to be some attachment there as well.
It wouldn't surprise me at all to see him change his mind again.
University of Miami

Could it be that he wants to take another job in Florida at the college level?
Randy Shannon was fired at the end of the regular season, and the University of Miami head coaching job remains vacant. That has to be an attractive gig.
A lot of names have been linked with this job. Meyer's has not been included, but that was probably only because everyone assumed he was firmly entrenched in his role as Florida's head coach.
Jacory Harris and company are still a good football team, and Meyer could make them great.
University of Michigan

Can you imagine Urban Meyer coaching Denard Robinson and the Michigan Wolverines in the Big House?
Rumors have been flying around that Rich Rodriguez's tenure as head coach at Michigan could be drawing to a close shortly.
The job at Michigan would be one of the most sought-after coaching opportunities in the country due to a lot of factors.
First, there's the storied history of the program.
Then there's playing in front of one of the largest and most passionate fanbases in the country.
Finally, there's the chance to restore the program to national prominence.
Any Small School With a Job Opening

There are always plenty of smaller programs with coaching vacancies.
I'm sure any of them would love to have Urban Meyer.
Unfortunately for them though, I don't know if he'd like to coach at any of them.
Let's move on to the pros.
Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys head coaching gig is always considered one of the best in the country.
Now that Wade Phillips is gone, Jerry Jones has to search for a replacement.
Jason Garrett has done a great job as the interim head coach so far, but if Urban Meyer comes calling, he would be quite difficult to turn down.
This team has a lot of potential and could be dangerous once a winning mentality is established.
You have to think that Meyer would love coaching in Dallas and leading America's Team back to the Super Bowl.
Minnesota Vikings

We have to assume that Brett Favre won't be playing next year for this to work.
Now that Brad Childress is out of the way and Leslie Frazier is the interim coach, there's a good chance that Urban Meyer could end up in Minnesota.
The fans are passionate, and there's already a lot of offensive talent on the team between Adrian Peterson, Percy Harvin (Florida connection anyone?) and Sidney Rice.
Plus, he'd get to build the team the way he wants it and select a franchise quarterback in the upcoming draft.
I could see this happening.
Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars currently have a head coach in Jack Del Rio, but I have to think that if Urban Meyer wanted the job, he'd get it.
He has the Florida connection and would have a ton of fan support.
Plus, the Jaguars are a young team, and they're only improving.
It's a long shot, but it's possible.
Denver Broncos

This is the most likely destination for Urban Meyer, in my opinion.
Now that Josh McDaniels has been fired, the head coaching job is available here.
Oh, and Tim Tebow is on the team.
It works too perfectly. Tebow and Meyer had an unbelievable connection at Florida, and I can't see him passing up another opportunity to work with his favorite player of all time.
I'd bet that Tebow is making a couple phone calls as you read this.
Retired

He did say in the press release that he wants to spend more time with his family.
This was also the reason he gave for stepping down last year, in addition to the medical problems.
Is it possible? Sure.
But Urban Meyer is too good a coach and too young to remain retired for any significant period of time.
I don't think this is very likely.
Coaching His Kids

"But after spending more than two decades motivating and celebrating the young men I've been so proud to coach, I relish the opportunity to cheer for my three terrific kids as they compete in their own respective sports."—Urban Meyer
Can anyone else see him coaching his kids in their recreational sports?
I bet you the other parents would absolutely love that.
