BCS Rankings Review: Three Teams Who Deserved Better
Well the bowls have been decided after a long season of college football.
Ready for a Oregon versus Auburn championship?
And we also have one of our last BCS rankings.
As usual there were some teams who got too much respect, and some who got too little.
Let's focus on the latter and see who deserved to be higher in this week's rankings.
3. LSU
1 of 3
LSU lost just two games this year, and going into their final week of the season many thought the Bayou Bengals had an outside shot at the national championship game.
A late season loss to Arkansas ruined all of that talk, and dropped them in the BCS rankings.
My beef is that Oklahoma, who dropped Big 12 games to Texas A&M and Missouri, is ranked ahead of them.
Are Texas A&M and Missouri really better than Auburn and Arkansas?
Of course not. LSU should be ahead of Oklahoma, and Ohio State—who failed to defeat a single team currently ranked.
2. Virginia Tech
2 of 3
Virginia Tech finished their season on an 11 game winning streak.
In those 11 games, the closest one was decided by a touchdown.
Few teams can say that.
Along the way they knocked three teams out of the rankings and won the ACC Championship.
But for some reason they find themselves behind teams like Missouri and Boise State.
I mean, I understand they lost to James Madison, but they would be a top 5 team had they won that game. They're better than Missouri and Boise State, and the BCS should reflect that.
1. Michigan State
3 of 3
Poor Michigan State.
One win away from a perfect season, and still no respect.
Two two-loss teams are ahead of them, and so is Ohio State—who really shouldn't be.
Do people forget so quickly that this is the only team to beat Wisconsin?
Despite ending their season with a three game win streak, they lost their shot at a BCS bowl to Wisconsin, a team they beat.
Maybe beating Alabama will finally push them up in the rankings.
