Forget the BCS Rankings: College Football Postseason Playoff Predictions
The whole BCS system is the biggest mistake in college football history.
I could write a novel as to why, but I'll save you the boredom.
If college football had a playoff, the world would be a better place. World hunger would be solved, world peace would become a reality, well, maybe I'm beginning to over-exaggerate.
Using the top eight teams from the AP Top 25 poll, this is what a D-I college football playoff would actually look like as of now:
Round 1: No. 8 Ohio State at No. 1 Oregon
1 of 7
Last week, a team finally found away to slow down Oregon's offense as the Ducks were held to just 15 points. That game will be used as a blueprint against the Ducks the rest of the season.
Now if Ohio State's defense was able to equal Cal's success, and with more talent that is very realistic, there is no way Oregon's defense would be able to hold a Terrelle Pryor led Buckeye offense to 13 points.
Outcome: 27-24 Ohio State
Round 1: No. 7 Stanford at No. 2 Auburn
2 of 7
How could anyone bet against Cam Newton this year?
Auburn already defeated strong SEC rivals in South Carolina, Arkansas, and LSU this year. The only ranked team Stanford beat was Arizona.
Andrew Luck may be the best passer in all of college football, but Newton is the best quarterback.
Outcome: 42-35 Auburn
Round 1: No. 6 LSU at No. 3 Boise State
3 of 7
This is the chance Boise State has been waiting for. They haven't lost a game since 2008.
LSU is having a fantastic year, but the biggest question mark on the team is at the quarterback position.
Against a disciplined, hard-nosed Broncos team, the Tigers mistakes will cost them and Boise State's dream season will continue.
Outcome: 21-20 Boise State
Round 1: No. 5 Wisconsin at No. 4 TCU
4 of 7
Wisconsin is one of the hottest teams in the nation. A couple of weeks ago the Badgers put up a whopping 83 points against Indiana.
TCU's defense may be the best in the nation surrendering only 10.9 points per game, but the Badgers offense would be too much.
Outcome: 24-21 Wisconsin
Semis: No. 8 Ohio State at No. 2 Auburn
5 of 7
Since using SEC speed as an argument would be frowned upon, I'll just point out Auburn has played and defeated superior competition to Ohio State.
The highest ranked team OSU beat is a now-No. 24 Iowa squad. The Buckeyes were spanked by Big Ten rival Wisconsin 31-18.
Auburn would be able to defeat Ohio State convincingly.
Outcome: 35-24 Auburn
Semis: No. 5 Wisconsin at No. 3 Boise State
6 of 7
After defeating LSU in Round 1, Wisconsin doesn't scare Boise State at all.
The Broncos and Badgers each play similar, tough styles of football. Boise State knows Wisconsin won't be able to beat the Broncos at their own game.
The magic continues.
Outcome: 27-24 Boise State
Championship: Auburn Vs. Boise State
7 of 7
The journey ends here for the Broncos.
Again, Cam Newton just can't be stopped this year. He has recorded at least two touchdowns in every game this season and averages three and a half.
Auburn gets it's first title since 1957 and Boise State proves it belongs.
Outcome: 35-31 Auburn
