BCS Standings: 10 Hot Seat Coaches Who Need Week 11 Win Most
BCS standing rank the best teams in college football as we head towards the bowl season. However, we're going to flip it upside down a little bit and look at the struggling in the world of college football.
Coaches come and go every year and some seats are hotter than others. Inside are 10 coaches that are feeling a little stuffy and could really use a win to help quiet some doubters out there. If you agree or disagree, make sure you voice it in the comments.
Any coaches you think need to go? Let's discuss them.
No. 10: Bill Lynch
1 of 10
Bill Lynch is 18-28 at Indiana during his tenure and it's not getting much better this year.
The Hoosiers put up a good fight against Iowa this weekend and had the game winning touchdown grab in their hands but it wasn't enough and it hasn't been enough this year in Indiana. The Hoosiers are 4-5 and will need to win two out of the last three to get to a bowl game.
If he misses the bowl season, he could be done.
No. 9: Brian Kelly
2 of 10
You'd think it'd be a little hasty to fire a coach after just one season, but with the way it's gone for Brian Kelly this year, it's not surprising that he's under fire.
A loss to Tulsa and an inevitable loss to Utah is going to put more head on Kelly, not to mention the discussion about the death of Declan Sullivan in windy weather that might have been unsafe to have him filming in, along with boosters asking for his resignation, it's not looking good.
Throw in some recruits backing out and it's a total mess.
No. 8: Ron Zook
3 of 10
Ron Zook is 26-43 at Illinois and are 5-4 right now and it's not looking good for Zook.
He'll get to a bowl game as the Illini have Minnesota up next, which should clinch it, but I'm not sure it will be enough to save his job. When your record is that poor overall, there needs to be a change. One Rose Bowl appearance is not enough.
He should probably get the pink slip.
No. 7: Mike Sherman
4 of 10
Sure, he notched an upset of Oklahoma this week, but Mike Sherman is constantly under the gun at Texas A&M.
The Aggies have a brutal schedule down the stretch and if Texas A&M struggles in those games, you know that the fans are going to be calling for his head. It's not a good situation for Sherman and I'm not sure he'll survive it.
He may need a few miracles up his sleeve.
No. 6: Randy Shannon
5 of 10
Randy Shannon has had a lot of hype around Miami, but not a lot to show for it.
The Hurricanes are struggling and are a long, long way away from the glory days of the program when they were competing for national championships. Shannon has struggled this year and the heat has turned up on the program.
Miami expects results and he's not delivering them.
No. 5: Bill Stewart
6 of 10
After taking over for Rich Rodriguez, Bill Stewart hasn't kept West Virginia as competitive as it was before his tenure.
The Mountaineers started out strong but have struggled and most recently dropped a game to Connecticut in overtime. That's not exactly the way to win your fans over. The Big East is down this year and so is West Virginia.
People aren't happy and he needs a strong finish to the season in the worst way.
No. 4: Dennis Erickson
7 of 10
Dennis Erickson has been the definition of mediocre at Arizona State.
Erickson has a .500 record and needs three straight wins to make the Sun Devils bowl eligible. If he fails to reach that mark, it's going to be hard for him to keep his job at Arizona State. You can't really blame the school for wanting to either.
His record simply won't get it done in a major conference.
No. 3: Dan Hawkins
8 of 10
Dan Hawkins is a putrid 19-39 as the head coach of Colorado and it looks like he could be on his way out at the end of the year.
Hawkins is 3-6 this year and the Buffaloes blew a 25 point lead in the fourth quarter. That's pretty much the kiss of death for a struggling head coach and he's going to be out on the unemployment line trying to work his way back up.
Not sure he'll be getting many call backs though.
No. 2: Paul Wulff
9 of 10
Washington State is the laughingstock of the Pac 10 and Paul Wulff is the man leading that disaster of a football team.
Wulff is 4-31 all time at Washington State and is just 1-9 this year. The coach has been confident about his future with the program recently but I think that's going to change rather quickly and he's going to find himself packing up his office.
He's been awful as head coach. That's as nice as I can put it.
No. 1: Rich Rodriguez
10 of 10
Rich Rodriguez got a big win over Illinois, which cools his seat slightly, but you know that Michigan fans are still having flashbacks to last year's collapse.
Michigan needs to finish strong, otherwise, patience in Ann Arbor will be all but gone and no one will shed a tear over Rich Rod's departure. He's struggled yet again this year and I'm not sure that his style of coaching and offense can get it done at the national level.
It's a valid question to be asking. Especially when Illinois is running up and down the field seemingly at will.
