College Football Recruiting 2011: The Top 10 Meanest, Scariest Recruits
Some prospects just have a way about them, a swagger or confidence, whatever you'd like to call it, that simply scares you.
They're the guys that lead their teams off the bus and onto the field.
They're the type of players that intimidate their opponents, stare them down from whistle to whistle, and play with the type of fire you can't teach.
Here are the 10 meanest, scariest recruits of the 2011 recruiting class. From the giants like Cyrus Kouandjio to the ball-hawks like Karlos Williams to the athletic freaks like James Wilder and Anthony Johnson.
10. Cyrus Kouandjio, OT
1 of 10
Commitment: Uncommitted
Kouandjio isn't as much scary as he is intimidating. At 6'7" and 322 lbs, he's the top offensive lineman in the country, with a massive wingspan, superb athleticism and impressive strength.
He backs down to no one and his size and build are daunting to most opponents. You won't find a more sculpted offensive tackle in the class.
9. Karlos Williams, S
2 of 10
Commitment: Florida State
Williams plays the game with passion and when he's roaming in the secondary, he's looking to put a licking on the ball-carrier every single play.
He's one of the top safeties in the nation and a ball-hawk you really won't want sneaking up on you.
8. Jason Gibson, LB
3 of 10
Commitment: Uncommitted
Gibson is a defensive end in high school, but he's a pass-rushing outside linebacker all the way at the next level and is one of the highest-rated prospects at the position.
He's the type of player that just gets in the zone, focuses in on the quarterback and becomes simply unblockable when coming around the edge on a speed rush fully intent on dominating his opponent.
7. Christian Westerman
4 of 10
Commitment: Texas
Westerman is about as aggressive and physical as they come along the offensive line. He's got that mean streak and animalistic nature you love to see at the position.
He's a top five offensive tackle, but might be better suited at one of the interior lineman positions due to his ability to get low, drive and punish defenders all the way through to the third and fourth level.
6. Tim Jernigan, DT
5 of 10
Commitment: Uncommitted
Jernigan is the top-rated defensive tackle in the country and at 6'2" and 275 lbs, he's one of the most well-built big men you'll ever find at the high school level.
He's mean, tough and has an endless motor. You'll be hard pressed to find a defensive tackle that will embrace the double team the way he does or beat it with as much ease has Jernigan routinely will.
5. Viliami Moala, DT
6 of 10
Commitment: Uncommitted
Not quite as good as Tim Jernigan, but still one of the top defensive tackles in the 2011 class, Moala is pure power.
He's a monster in the middle, as aggressive as they come and just scary on the rare occasions he isn't double-teamed.
4. Tony Steward, LB
7 of 10
Commitment: Uncommitted
It's hard to believe Steward is only in high school when you look at him. He's chiseled like a full-grown body builder and might be the most aggressive linebacker in the country.
He'll literally toss a ball-carrier to the ground or drive them ten yards behind the line of scrimmage and then stare his man down with the type of intensity you simply can't teach.
3. Aundrey Walker, OG
8 of 10
Commitment: Uncommitted
At 6'5" and 355 lbs, Walker is the biggest prospect in the entire 2011 recruiting class with at least a 3-star rating. He's got 15 lbs on Viliami Moala and over 40 lbs on anyone else.
He's also a top 15 guard and a truly terrifying sight for his opposition. Walker has the stare down perfected and uses his size and strength to dominate who ever is across the line of scrimmage.
2. Anthony Johnson, DT
9 of 10
Commitment: LSU
The second-rated defensive tackle in the class, Johnson is an athletic freak who's arguably the top bull-rusher in the nation.
He moves extremely well for a 6'2", 300-lb prospect and is about as good of an example of a "first off the bus" player as you can find.
1. James Wilder, ATH
10 of 10
Commitment: Florida State
Wilder's physic is just ridiculous for a high school player. But once you add in his practically unnatural athletic ability and bone-crushing style of play you might have to consider him the best prospect in the class.
It's a tight race between him and defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, but one thing is for certain, there's no one scarier and meaner looking that Wilder on or off the field.
