NBA Season 2010-11: Five Teams That Could Trade For Gilbert Arenas

Kevon RobinsonOct 24, 2010

Everyone knows that it's just a matter of time before Gilbert Arenas gets traded away from the Washington Wizards, it seems to look like the Wizards' staff is willing to give Gilbert Arenas a chance to display his skills.

Knowing that it is John Wall's team now and yet Gilbert Arenas has one of the biggest contracts in the league is an issue, Arenas will probably be playing just for advertisement so he can go to a team with his desire.

Gilbert is still a good shooter and averaged 22 and 7 last year before his off-court actions got him suspended.  Just recently, Gilbert Arenas faked an injury and lied to the coach, which won't help his trade value at all.

Many teams may want to avoid Arenas but there are some out there that still believe that he can clean up his off-court troubles and regain his superstar form.

Atlanta Hawks

Recently, Jamal Crawford has demanded a trade from the Atlanta Hawks, and the Hawks don't seem like they are in a hurry to trade him...although it would be nice to get a player off a team that doesn't want to be there.

Wizards get:

Jamal Crawford

Marvin Williams

Hawks get:

Gilbert Arenas

2012 Second Round Pick

**The trade could benefit both teams, the Wizards get Gilbert's contract off their hands and an above average replacement along with a possible starting SF; while the Hawks get an all-star caliber PG, in which they are in need of since Mike Bibby's skills are depleting.

Indiana Pacers

The Pacers were in desperate need of a PG to get their franchise on track, it looks like they want to hold on to Danny Granger and will bring him through the rebuilding phase.  Gilbert Arenas could add a great scoring punch that can team up with Granger.

Wizards get:

Dahntay Jones

Mike Dunleavy

T.J. Ford

Pacers get:

Gilbert Arenas

2012 First Round Pick

**The Wizards might void T.J. Ford's contract because of the clustering of PGs and his contract is pretty heavy considering his prime was being a decent PG and is now declining.

Minnesota Timberwolves

Timberwolves need a PG that can take over also, it looks as if Rubio is going to take his time playing in Spain before coming over to the NBA.  GM David Kahn seems to like having a team full of stacked guards so I wouldn't be surprised if they accepted a trade for an all-star PG.

Wizards get:

Wesley Johnson

Martell Webster

Sebastian Telfair

Timberwolves get:

Gilbert Arenas

2012 First Round Draft Pick

**One of the main reasons why this could be a possibility is because the Timberwolves have one of the worst GMs in NBA history, David Kahn...he resigned Darko Milicic. That's all I have to say.

The Sixers are hoping that their current starting PG, Jrue Holiday can develop into something special...in case if that doesn't happen, they can always trade for Gilbert Arenas.  They need someone else to take the weight off of Iggy's shoulders for the scoring.

Wizards get:

Elton Brand

Sixers get:

Gilbert Arenas

**This is basically a sea-saw trade that can benefit to either team, it gets Gilbert Arenas away from the Wizards and Elton Brand away from the Sixers.  The Wiz should only do this trade if they are 100% positive that no one else will take Gilbert.

Orlando Magic

Jameer Nelson is a great PG, but if you have a superstar Center; your going to need a superstar PG to feed him the ball.  The Wizards and Magic have had trade talks all this summer about acquiring Gilbert Arenas, unfortunately that didn't go as planned...so here is what I came up with...

Wizards get:

Vince Carter

Magic get:

Gilbert Arenas

**This trade almost when through straight up, ESPN had a debate about it earlier this week, but the trade rumor just died out.  It seems like the most realistic trade in this article.

...Closing Statement

6 of 6

I love Gilbert Arenas and I think that the Wizards should keep him and see what they can get out of the amazing backcourt with him and John Wall.

but,

After recent media problems Arenas has faced, it almost seems like he didn't learn anything from last year's troubles...the fans in D.C. love him and hopefully this trade talk will be overshadowed if he plays like his all-star form come regular season.
