UFC 121 Fight Card: What Cain Velasquez Must Do To Beat Brock Lesnar
Around the world, everybody is talking about what's going to happen at UFC 121.
They're talking about the big one for the UFC Heavyweight title between Cain Velasquez and Brock Lesnar.
The general consensus is that Brock Lesnar will walk out of Anaheim, California this Saturday the same way he walked out to the Octagon: as the UFC Heavyweight Champion, but is it really a closed case that Lesnar will still be the champ after UFC 121?
Not necessarily.
Now on paper, who do we have fighting in the main event?
First, you have the champ, who made his first defense of the belt this past July against Shane Carwin.
Like his upcoming challenger, Lesnar had to deal with a wrestler — and on top of that, he had to also contend with arguably the most devastating KO artist in the UFC Heavyweight division.
Velasquez won't have the bulk in his frame like Carwin has, and he won't have a "12-Gauge Right" that knocks everybody clean out, but he will have something that Carwin didn't have:
Only the best cardio and endurance of any Heavyweight in MMA, let alone the UFC Heavyweight division.
Cain may have the best cardio and endurance of any Heavyweight in MMA, let alone the UFC, but it'll take more than the ability to go five rounds without fatigue and the power that he does have in his hands in order to dethrone the champ.
Granted, he'll need to use his footwork and pick his shots against Brock, because despite the unreal cardio, we all do know what happens if Cain goes nuts and tries to expend all his energy by attempting to finish Brock in the first round.
The key to beating Lesnar is in more than
