Alabama Crimson Tide Ready To Wrestle with The Florida Gators
The Alabama Crimson Tide hosts the Florida Gators in one of the best games of the upcoming weekend.
The college football odds makers at BetMania have set the odds for this game and they have Alabama at nine point favorites.
Alabama remained the number one team in the country after surviving a scare against Arkansas. The Tide was down by 13 points in a hostile environment and managed to come back to stay undefeated on the year. The comeback was fueled by timely defense and consistent running by Mark Ingram.
Ingram amassed 157 yards on the ground and scored two touchdowns, to include one late in the game to get the victory. The defense played spectacular against one of the best quarterbacks in the country, Ryan Mallet. They grabbed three interceptions off Mallett, to include one late in the game that led to the game-winning score.
This was a great road win for a team with a young defense, but they won’t be able to rest as the Florida Gators come to town.
The Florida Gators jumped up the rankings, and are currently listed at No. 7 in the AP Top 25 and the USA Today poll. They jumped up the polls due to a dominating performance against the Kentucky Wildcats. The Gators offense put up 466 total yards and won by a score of 48-14.
Trey Burton stole the show and scored six touchdowns in the win, breaking the previous school record held by Tim Tebow. The focus of the Gators is now squarely on the long-awaited rematch with the Tide and a shot at revenge. Alabama defeated Florida in the SEC Championship on the way to becoming the national champions last season.
Florida’s offense seems to be getting better every week. Quarterback John Brantley is getting more comfortable and weapons are emerging at the skill positions. Florida’s defense is aggressive, and can play with any school in the country, but as well balanced as this team is, they will not beat Alabama.
The Gators are extremely banged-up heading into this contest and have injuries all over the football field. Every single starting offensive lineman suffered either an ankle injury or had a swollen knee during the Kentucky game, RB Jeff Demps aggravated a sprained foot that he hurt against Tennessee, and DTs Brandon Antwine (shoulder), Lawrence Marsh (arm), and Dominique Easley (foot) did not play against Kentucky on Saturday.
Alabama will be able to control the ball on offense with a punishing ground game and a disciplined passing game. On defense the Tide will be able to focus on the playmakers of Florida and rattle Brantley.
The Gators are 1-6-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last eight meetings and the home team is 4-1 ATS in their last five meetings. The Crimson Tide is 4-0 ATS in their last four home games and they get the blowout victory at home.
Alabama 38, Florida 27
