5-Star Recruit Anthony Wallace Visits Oregon: Are The Ducks His New Favorite?

Five-Star middle linebacker Anthony Wallace will be making his first official visit this weekend and while many experts believed his top choices were Ohio State, Penn State, and Oklahoma, it's Oregon who gets the call first. 

“I’m taking an official (visit) to Oregon because they are one of my top schools and I’ve never seen the campus. I’m also interested in seeing what their sports management school is like because that’s what I want to major in,” Wallace said.

“I’m going to be talking to the players, the coaches, the fans and the regular students to try and get the inside scoop on the school. I also want to try and get to know the coaching staff and my position coach.”

Wallace, ranked as the No. 4 inside linebacker on Rivals and No. 6 at the position on Scout, has plans to make official visits to Ohio State and Penn State, but is still considering whether to go to Oklahoma, Arkansas, Miami, or USC. 

After visiting Miami in the summer it looked like the Hurricanes had the inside track, with Wallace gushing over the experience. Sources close to him later confirmed that the Miami connection might be dead now, leaving the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions as the top options. 

While he plans on making all of his official visits before committing, Wallace left the window open for a surprise announcement. 

“I’m going to try and take all of my official visits before I commit but if a school feels right then there is a possibility that I might go ahead and commit,” he said.

It's possible that could happen as early as this weekend, depending on how his trip to Oregon plays out, but the thought here is that Big Ten rivals Ohio State and Penn State have the edge, and should sway Wallace their way once he makes his official visits.
