Ole Miss-Vanderbilt: SEC Season Begins for the Rebels
The last two weeks the Rebels have been performing horribly. They may have beaten Tulane, but it was nothing special.
The defense has played badly and needs to step it up, or they will lose ball games. But what about the offense?
The offense has played pretty well with Jeremiah Masoli passing and running like he did with Oregon. Nathan Stanley, on the other hand, did well in the Jacksonville State game but did almost nothing against the Green Wave. They just need to step it up during the SEC schedule.
Vanderbilt is 0-2, losing to Northwestern and LSU. This is your common Vandy, but Vandy could take out the Rebels if the Rebels don't play with all they've got. Expect the Commodores to come out and play their hardest.
Vanderbilt scored 21 points and rolled up 432 yards in a season-opening loss to Northwestern. The Commodores went backward for much of the first half against LSU. They finished with minus-seven yards rushing on 17 carries in the first half.
The Commodores wound up avoiding the shutout with a 23-yard field goal from Ryan Fowler to open the second half. Warren Norman broke loose for a 51-yard run to open the third quarter, and Craig Loston's personal foul for tackling him out of bounds gave Vandy 1st-and-goal at the seven. But LSU held.
As for the Rebels last week, Masoli accounted for 308 yards and two touchdowns as Ole Miss downed Tulane 27-13 on Saturday night. Brandon Bolden rushed for a 16-yard score, and Masoli's 70-yard touchdown strike to Markeith Summers gave Ole Miss a 24-3 lead.
Masoli completed 14 of 20 passes for 281 yards and was intercepted once on a tipped pass. He also rushed for 27 yards and a score. Summers finished with five catches for 165 yards.
My prediction is 21-10 Ole Miss. GO REBELS!
