Five Players That You Can Drop From Your Fantasy Football Roster

Mike RSep 14, 2010

1. Donald Brown (Colts RB)

The Colts RB had one catch for seven yards. That's it. Unless you play in an extremely deep league, there is no reason to hold onto Brown. You can find better options in most 10 and 12 team leagues. Brown's value lies in Addai being ineffective and that clearly was not the case in Week 1.

2. Mark Sanchez (Jets QB)

In some two quarterback leagues, some owners actually drafted Mark Sanchez. He is one of the top five worst starting quarterbacks in fantasy football. He doesn't get many pass attempts, throw for many yards, or touchdowns. Jason Campbell, David Garrard, Sam Bradford, Matt Hasselbeck, and Derek Anderson are all better options.

3. Laurence Maroney (Patriots RB)

Maroney has been in Belichick's dog house for awhile now. He missed the first game of the season with a thigh injury. He didn't factor much in the Pats preseason plans and figures to see limited game action when healthy. Fred Taylor looked good Sunday and remains entrenched as the starter.

4. Matthew Stafford (Lions QB)

Matthew Stafford's problem is not talent; it's staying healthy. There are rumors that Stafford will only miss a few weeks. I am not buying it. The Lions are not going to rush their number one draft pick back onto the playing field especially when the team is in rebuilding mode. I wouldn't expect to see Stafford back until midseason at the earliest.

5. Steve Slaton (Texans RB)

Lots of fantasy owners were drafting Slaton in hopes that Foster would flame out and Slaton could win back his job. That isn't going to happen especially after Foster's 231 yard performance on Sunday against the Colts. Expect Slaton to be the permanent backup with limited carries.
