Michael EllisSep 14, 2010
Week 2 of the SEC football season is in the books—some of the SEC stars are shining early and bright, while others have been less visible.
Let's take a look around the conference to see which players are "HOT" and which ones are "NOT."
SIZZLIN'
- Marcus Lattimore - RB - South Carolina - Lattimore was a bruising workhorse in his first ever SEC game, carrying the ball 37 times for 182 yards and two touchdowns in USC's, 17-6 win over Georgia.
- Tauren Poole - RB - Tennessee - Vols Junior ran for a career high 162 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries in Tennessee's 48-13 loss to the Oregon Ducks.
- Stevan Ridley - RB - LSU - Ridley was unstoppable in the late stages of LSU's 27-3 victory over Vandy, carrying the ball for 159 yards and a touchdown on only 17 rushing attempts. 118 of Ridley's yards were in the fourth quarter.
- Ryan Mallet - QB - Arkansas - Mallet went wild in 31-7 win over La. Monroe, throwing for 400 yards and connecting on 28 of 43 passing attempts, including three touchdowns and an interception.
HEATIN' UP

- Trent Richardson - RB - Alabama - Sophomore ripped Penn State defense for 144 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries.
- Jeffrey Demps - RB - Florida - Demps' 62 yard touchdown run in the third quarter was the key in kick starting the sputtering, Gator offense. He finished with 139 rushing yards on only 11 carries in the win against South Florida. Demps also had two kickoff returns for a 47.5 yard average.
- Mike Hartline - QB - Kentucky - Hartline threw with pinpoint accuracy, connecting on 16 of 20 pass attempts for 213 yards and three touchdowns, in Kentucky's 63-28 smashing of Western Kentucky.
- Jeremiah Masoli - QB - Ole Miss - The Oregon Duck transfer went for 281 yards through the air on 14 of 20 passing, with a TD and an interception and also tallied one rushing touchdown for a combined 308 yards of total offense.
NOT SO HOT
- Jordan Jefferson - QB - LSU - Connected on eight of 20 pass attempts for only 86 yards and an interception in LSU's 27-3 win at Vandy.
- John Brantley - QB - Florida - Brantley finished up with okay numbers, 18-31 for 172 yards and two touchdowns, but struggled mightily in the first half and continued to have problems with the snap.
- Matt Simms - QB - Tennessee - Completed 15 of 29 passing attempts for 151 yards with an interception that opened the flood gates in Neyland as Oregon went on to hammer the Vols, 48-13.
CHILLIN'
- Chris Relf - QB - Mississippi State - Relf completed just 12 of 25 passing for 110 yards and rushed for 26 yards on 14 carries in last week's, 17-14, loss to Auburn.
- A.J. Green - WR - Georgia - Green has sat out for the last two games and expects to sit for two more for selling his game jersey for $1000. NCAA ruled that Green must sit out a four game suspension.
- Larry Smith - QB - Vanderbilt - Vandy signal caller connected on just eight of 15 pass attempt for 70 yards and rushed 10 times for -23, for a combined 47 yards of total offense in the 27-3 loss to LSU.
