Ole Miss-Tulane: Rebels Defeat Green Wave, but Are They Ready for SEC Season?
The Rebels defeated Tulane 27-13. 1-1 for the season, and the Rebs have not even played and SEC game yet.
This weekend's game was almost the same game as last week. The Rebels started out the first quarter with Jesse Grandy taking the kickoff back for 51 yards, giving the Rebels perfect field position.
Ole Miss was stopped on a 3rd-and-goal and then went for it on fourth down, and Jeremiah Masoli sneaked it in for the score.
The third quarter was like last week for the Rebels, with NO yards. They really didn't have the ball that much that quarter anyway. That needs to be looked at. They can't do well in the first half and absolutely lose their cool and lose the game. This needs to be looked over in the tapes, and the problems need to be fixed.
Masoli completed 14 of 20 passes for 281 yards and one interception. He also rushed for 27 yards and a score. Markeith Summers finished with five catches for 165 yards. Summers and Masoli will become best friends on the field with the passes they made that game.
Tulane stats: Ryan Griffin finished 21 of 30 for 203 yards, hitting D.J. Banks six times for 85 yards. Orleans Darkwa's touchdown was the fourth for the freshman in two games. Cairo Santos hit field goals of 19 and 38 yards
Is Ole Miss ready for the harder games like Alabama, LSU, Arkansas, and Auburn? These are all ranked teams, and the way the Rebels are playing, they can't beat these teams. They need to fix the defense. They had some good sacks in the Tulane game, but in the Jacksonville State game they couldn't stop the third and fourth down conversions.
They have a good offense with Masoli under center. He can pass, and he can run. You couldn't ask for more but good first and second halves. That will win them ball games.
