Milos Teodosic and his NBA Advantage

Jorge Garbajosa, Spain’s 6-foot-9 forward has seen it all. He was guarding the 6-foot-5 Serbian point guard Milos Teodosic with seconds left in regulation with scores both tied at the moment.

Jorge guarded a lot of far more talented players in Europe and on his short stint in the NBA. Milos is always a passing point guard. It is unusual for him to take the last second shot and with hitting only 1 out of his 7 three point shots in the game, Jorge welcomes the thought of Teodosic hitting that last second attempt.

As the clock ticks, it was a culmination of Teodosic basketball career, the final graduation day and a validation of his greatness.

The unselfish combo guard who has great ball handling skills and can really stroke it up from beyond the arc who has an unlikely three point accuracy with only 28 percent was always the typical European Superstar with lesser NBA value.

He struggles in one on one plays, and he always got into trouble with guards quicker than him. But at 23 years old, there is still plenty of room for hands on experience. On his 20 point effort against the CSKA Moscow, he connected with a double back step three that was usually not part of his arsenal.

But that was always Milos case, he strives on teams which are expected to trounce on them. And when the Greece captain Antonis Fotsis confronted Milos on one of their friendly matches last August (which came out not friendly at all,) Milos competitive spirit fought back which ended him into a two game suspension.

Spain was the FIBA’s defending world champions and after last year’s European Championship where Serbia lost to Spain, this was actually redemption to them and for Milos, a bigger stage to show what he really is made of.

Jorge Garbajosa was looking at the ball when Milos dribbled the ball twice behind his legs and shot the ball with a few inches beyond the arc. The ball went into the cylinder then swish.

Serbia got the greatest upset of the tournament and even though it’s hard to fathom if they can escape a win against host team Turkey or powerhouse team USA. It could be one of the greatest games Serbia has ever played.

Milos Teodosic got the redemption and shared the stage with his teammates who played extremely well throughout the game. He knows there will always be doubters around and even if he doesn’t make it to the NBA, he is just equally confident of his skills and greatness. He has something not every NBA guard player has. He can deliver clutch shooting when needed and he has the skills to back it up.
